Dear friends! I thought it's time even for our Knuipe to 'jump into Summer clothes' in bright colours. :D

Good evening Dear All, the last three months, I have been sick and having no force nor courage to write here (well, actuallu, today was the first day I did some reading). I finally (and hopefully) do feel a bit better now. Unfortunately, last week on Tuesday (my so-called favorite day of the week!!!), I had to say farewell to my sweet little Babbelute. But I promise to do my best again.
Mervi, NEVER give up the Knuipe or KWM.

Denmark lost the game but I'm sure they have won everybodys heart!

Ralph - What a day you've had. After a busy hot day you certainly deserve a Staropramen or two! :D

Britta-Gudrun - I'm glad I don't have to go out when the heat is on!

Yesterday I was indoors all day and could not get enough of the coverage of Flocke and her cubs all over the Internet and in KWM. So far they seem to really like the new home.
Today I went into the market in Oxford and bought a little Wade Porcelain donkey figure as my father was especially fond of these gentle animals. I then returned to Kidlington where my local Charity Shop had two Christmas Polar Bear ornaments for me.
I had bought a day ticket for the buses which allows me to travel anywhere that the particular company runs in Oxfordshire. My first stop was Woodstock, a lovely town next to the famous Blenheim Palace with its enormous lake which just cries out for Polar Bears! A kind Taiwanese lady in the Red Cross Shop had a bag load of bears but only one little Polar. I gave her a good donation and I know the other soft bears will go to the JR Childrens Hospital. Then it was on to the town of Burford in the Cotswolds where i bought a little figurine of a cub.
On the way home I called in at Teddy Bears of Witney to tell them all about Flocke. They have a very expensive little Polar Bear handmade in Russia. mmmm not sure if even I can afford this one.
Back in Oxford I had a late vegetarian lunch at the Comptoir Libanais restaurant which is decorated in the style of Beirut in the 1960s when it was the Riviera of the Middle East. Delicious meal and for a moment I could remember those lovely TV and films set in sunny Beirut before the dreadful events of the 70s which have continued up to the present.
It is nice to be back in the big Westgate Library even if I only have 30 minutes to do some typing that is a bit too hard on my little phone.
I am happy to leave my football news to Mervi and her team in KWM.
BN is reminding me that it is nearly time to meet our friends for Staropramen.
Not sure when I shall be back again.

Britta-Gudrun - Even I hope Denmark will win but Belgium is a hard nut. The Belgian team has announced that on the 10th minute the game will make a break to honour Christian Eriksen. That's a very nice gesture - just like the Finnish team's specially made T-shirts were. - I hope Patricia is OK. It's been quite a while since she wrote here.

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

It's a very hot day here today so my brain is already working in slow motion (more slowly than usual). :D

In KWM you'll find lovely photos of AIKA AND COMETA in the Rostov Zoo. You will love the little lady and her mother.

I wish everybody a most pleasant TDT. Take care! I'm going to watch football almost all day - especially the game Denmark vs Belgium.

It will be a hot day

I like the bears too. With the brown bears it is a political decision. They are no more endangered, that's why the zoos are no more allowed to breed with them. Furthermore the enclosure has to be very big. That's why the most brown bears live in the bear parks now.
In Antibes is permanent hot 3 Month in the summer. The main attraction in Marineland are orcas and dolphines.

Ludmila You are right in both cases.
But if you look at the weather these days, it gets as hot at YWP in the Summer as it does in Antibes. I hope Flocke and co can find enough shade in the enclosure.
I have no problem with the Pandas and we have all enjoyed seeing the cubs. But brown and.Polar bears belong in the Zoo.

Mervi, Ralph
Do you remember how it was as Flocke and Raspi were send to Antibes. Nobody was happy. The enclosure is good and ice caves are good, but in Antibes is very hot in the summer. It is not the best place to keep the polar bears.
Zoo Berlin decided to keep the pandas. At the annual meeting, the zoo director said that the pandas are financed by donations. This means that the people of Berlin want to have the pandas.

Mervi, du hast so Recht!

Britta-Gudrun, Ralph - I can only sign your words about Marineland's decision to stop keeping polar bears. What comes to Berlin - I don't understand why they had to get pandas instead of keeping brown bears and polar bears.

Britta-Gudrun - Finland just lost the game against Russia 0-1 but my team played very well. I was very proud and touched to see the Finns wearing warm-up T-shirts with the text 'Get well, Christian'. What a very nice gesture!

Ralph - Thanks to Sheila and Philip I'm sure we can have a nice coverage of Flocke and the kids in KWM as long as they stay in YWP.

Britta Gudrun You have said just what I have been thinking.
The loss of such a good facility for Polar Bears as Marineland
is a tragedy.
Worse still is that zoos like Stuttgart and Wuppertal and now Zoo Berlin have had to give up keeping Polar Bears because they could not find money to build new enclosures.
Chris thanks for the you tube of Simone and cubs
For me I am still unable to get to Doncaster because the trains are still not running from Oxford. I have to do what I did in September and go via Birmingham. But the hotels are still not open because of Covid. Hoping that next month things will be better.

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

Chris - I can understand there were no people around during your tour. :D It must have been great to observe the storks. - Oh bear, Simone seems to think that house is a restaurant! I was amazed to see she and the cubs didn't cause any damage but behaved so nicely. However, I hope the owner of the house doesn't put food on the veranda. It's not good if the bears get too used to humans.

Ludmila - It was a tough game. I was hoping for a German goal to the last second but unfortunately it didn't happen. Well, there will be more games.

This morning I could publish Sheila's first photos and a couple of short videos of FLOCKE, TALA, INDIANA AND YOMA IN YORKSHIRE in KWM.

I wish you all a very happy Hump Day! Take care!
