The silly corona season is still on ..... but baby bear don't care!

Posted by Mervi on August 31, 2020 at 12:15 PM

Dear friends! This Summer has been very 'strange' and the Autumn is going to be the same. However, better times will come even if we must wait with lots of patience! But Patience is our middle name so let's enjoy the late Summer and the Autumn!

Good evening, friends! First I must tell you that I've learnt a fine new expression for us elderly ladies. We are no longer oldies but Queen agers! :D

Dave - I'm sorry to hear you will loose your job. At least you can collect the employment benefits until September next year - a little consolation! - The corona situation is getting worse and worse everywhere. I'm very angry about the Swedish strategy of not doing practically anything to prevent the number of the cases to get even higher. Now they are as high as they were in March! Vesa and I are taking all the possible precautions but there are so many covidiots around who listen to the Swedish so called experts. They are just big jokes!! - Enjoy your steak and beer/s! And good luck with your new washing machine!

Ludmila - What an unpleasant experience!

Ralph - My sister lives in Nottingham so I'm very worried about the corona situation in UK.

Uncle Sergej has prepared an evening bowl for us.

Dave Your letter from Canada tonight makes sombre reading and brings home the seriousness of the crisis.
I am sure all of us will be hoping that you are able to find something to replace your present job. So many businesses that helped people in their daily lives seem to be getting trashed by Covid.
You seem to have some successes to celebrate. Getting a new washing machine and finishing the garage. I think you earned that steak and something to drink along with it.
If its small consolation Canada seems at least better organised than England. Visiting a loved one in a home is next to impossible and our track and test regime is a disaster.
Take care and stay safe.

I am sorry that you will lose your job soon. I hope you will find a new job and you will find a way to visit your mother.
I wish you success with a new washer.

We were swimmimg in the afternoon. Suddenly we heard an announcement, that all people have to go out from the water. It was chlorine gas alarm. After 20 minutes we were able to dress us and to left the indoor pool. We were glad that it was not about corona.

Good Afternoon.

After a day of sun and 21C temperatures, we are back to 7C and grey skies. I went for a ride on the motorcycle yesterday to take advantage of the nice day. It might be the last ride of the season.

Yesterday I received an email from my boss. It looks like I will be losing my job soon. Her business has suffered significantly from Covid as people aren't travelling and requiring boarding for their pets. I will go in for meetings next week to decide when I am finished and how much severance pay. I figured the end was near. I can collect employment benefits until next September and it will not be easy finding a job in this climate of uncertainty but I'm not worried.

My California friends are back in Los Angeles. The Covid numbers there are frightening. The daily case numbers here in Ontario are setting records almost every day. but we are still below 1,000/day.

My mom's retirement home is back on alert status, which means heightened Covid procedures. Her 3 hour day outings have been put on hold for now. We can still visit her outside, but the weather at this time of year is not great. To visit indoors using an area set up for non-residents, I need a Covid test every 2 weeks, which I have been doing all summer. Now that the cases are increasing, it is more difficult to book an appointment for testing.

I finally completed my garage repairs, which I began the first week of June. Now it is seasonal work. Cleaning eavestroughs, leaves, shrub trimming, window washing and shuffling the garage around to store summer equipment and get winter things ready.

I am getting my new washing machine delivered this Thursday. So far I have been able to avoid a laundromat, but the laundry pile is getting huge. :o

Now it is time for a walk and then BBQ a steak tonight.

Have a nice Saturday.

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

Britta-Gudrun, Ludmila - I thought the 'toilet paper show' was over but people are incredible. Why do they believe they need all that paper? :D :D :D

Patricia - I hope everything's OK with you and the cats.

I have just published Ralph's third report from the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in KWM. I'm sure you will enjoy it!

I wish everybear and everybody a cosy Saturday! Please, take care of yourselves!

Ralph, Ludmila - It's really funny that people are again bying so much toilet paper! - It's a good idea to let cute animals remind us of keeping the distance. A postal stamp or all kinds of signs - I think they will work better than only words. :D

Uncle Sergej is creating a nice night cap for us and he assured me that toilet paper isn't one of the ingredients! :D

A special postage stamp in Austria is funny.
We were today in the supermarket. The toilet paper was out.

Austria has released a special postage stamp made out of toilet.paper to mark Covid

The nice touch is that it features a drawing of a baby elephant which is used in Austria to remind people to keep 1 meter apart

Ludmila, da wundert mich gar nichts mehr, bei mir liegt der Wald auch nur 200m entfernt!

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Today I have an appointment with an ear-nose-throat specialist in Lund. Nothing serious - just a check.

Yeo - Thank you for the breakfast!

Britta-Gudrun - You have a nice little zoo in your garden now. I wish all the 'inhabitants' best of luck!

In KWM you'll find a new report from Hellabrunn signed by Anita - with photos and a video.

I wish everybody a pleasant Friday! Take care! See you in the afternoon.
