The silly corona season is still on ..... but baby bear don't care!

Posted by Mervi on August 31, 2020 at 12:15 PM

Dear friends! This Summer has been very 'strange' and the Autumn is going to be the same. However, better times will come even if we must wait with lots of patience! But Patience is our middle name so let's enjoy the late Summer and the Autumn!

MERVI - Du hast voellig recht !
Ich verstehe auch nicht, warum
man staendig "Party" machen
muss. Aber die jungen Leute
sind so - wir waren auch mal
jung. Ich weiss noch, wie es
mit Aids anfing - da hat sich
auch niemand drum gekuemmert.

Trinken wir auf bessere Zeiten - CHEERS!

The virus does not live in the water. It is possible to disinfect the surfaces with chlor, but it is not possible to drink it. That`s why it is not a medicine against the virus.

I was wondering why BN was organising some of the Polars here to sing Kalinka, Kalinka. Then I saw Uncle Sergej on his screen.
We all need a party and some stiff drinks. The Polars will ensure social distancing.

Dear friends! The corona situation makes us face lock downs almost everywhere. If people don't respect the restrictions it's the only 'weapon' against the evil virus. I wish Sweden would do more than only give 'advice' that nobody follows. Now the new cases are higher than they were in the Spring! - Staying at home isn't a punishment. Millions of people in this world would be happy just HAVING a home! I've been wondering why people have to get together when they only play with their phones without talking to each other.

Uncle Sergej is willing to entertain us with his balalajka. You know where the cotton wool is .... :D Of course, he has prepared tasty drinks for us, too!

Wider erwarten war es nachmittags doch sonnig.
und wir haben sehr milde Luft aus dem Sueden.
Ein schoener Herbsttag - es soll wohl noch
einige Tage so bleiben. Bis jetzt habe
ich noch keine Kraniche gesehen.
Aber letztes Jahr kamen sie
auch erst im November. :)

LUDMILA - ich kann die ganze
Politker-Bande nicht mehr ertragen.
Sie schwatzen Tag und Nacht
und sind total hilflos. Der
Winter wird schlimm...

PATRICIA - I heard of the
corona-situation in your country.
NRW and RP will take patients
from Belgium. What a disaster.
But in Germany its not much
better - the statistics are
rising and rising... :(

Good evening Dear All,
Fall has definitely arrived here in Belgium too. Last week was rather nice, somehow foggy in the morning, but as from noon, sunshine and every now and then, rain. But since Monday, the wind became very cold and today, we had a lot of rain. Na ja, so far no night frost (and this not even for the coming week). However, I must say that I love the colours of Fall. When the sun is shining, nature is covered by gold, by way of saying.
With regard to the corona situation:
Dave, I am so sorry to read that you might lose your job. And indeed, the current circumstances are not the best to easily find another one. Even though it seems that you can manage things until next September, I really wish that you will find a good job soon again.
Dear All, most probably, you may already have read it in the newspapers but here in Belgium, the situation is becoming a real disaster. We are almost again back in a complete new lockdown. When you know that Belgium is having a population of 11 million citizens and that there are daily on average 12,500 NEW infections (we already have had days with 20,000!) and also about 100 people dying, you realize how severe it is. All hospitals are required to create extra places for the new patients, in every department (whatever their speciality is). A lot of doctors are contesting and warning that for people who need special therapy (for example with regard to cancer) or follow-up, there is no longer space and sufficient time and that a serious number of them will die because of that. But it is called “collateral damage”!!! HALLLOOOO! One may hope that none of his family will form part of this collateral damage.
Here in Belgium, more and more businesses are temporarily obliged to close: restaurants, pubs, musea, zoos, all kinds of sport and so forth.
And with regard to swimming pools (whether indoors or outdoors): no, chlorine will not stop the virus nor kill it. If chlorine would have been the solution, there would be no corona any longer since it is a very cheap product to produce (even third-world countries can afford it). And then I dare not even talk about the degree of pee and snot in the water.
No, all these restrictions are not pleasant, but we must respect them. Since mid-March, I had to give up so many plans, haven’t been able to invite friends and I know already in advance that Xmas will be celebrated alone with my cats. But nonetheless, I can only strongly recommend to follow Ralph’s 3D rules. At this moment, it is the only possibility that we have to help to keep the situation under control and to protect each other.
And to end my message with a positive note, yesterday, I was sooo happy to see the pics of Juso and Suulo.

The evening news on the radio has been reporting Mrs Merkel's announcement. The BBC says that Germany now has a similar problem to the UK as people there are not cooperating with the track and test system. In a free country (unlike Korea, Singapore or China) people do not like reporting their movements to the Government or being told they cannot leave home. So locking down appears the only answer.
In the UK the problem is clearly associated with big towns and cities. Families are the main cause of the spread as they refuse not to socialise with other families (they are often relatives).
We also have the problem that we have lots of old people living together in homes which are basically just small hotels.
Our rates will be very bad.
I am lucky in that I dont have a family and I live in a large village with well run supermarkets. I only go out twice or three times a week.
The news from Copenhagen Zoo is very depressing. The wolves and brown bears did not need to be moved. I visited the brown bears and they have a good enclosure. There is plenty of room around the Arctic world to redesign it to house a male bear. Bremerhaven manages this with much less space. Wolves do not need very complicated or large enclosures. Berlin manages quite well.
I notice that Berlin has also stopped keeping brown and black bears. This may be due to the success of forest park reserves which rescue brown bears. I dont know what Denmark has like this.

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Today it looks like KWM is working properly again.

Chris - Thanks for the laughs! :D

Ludmila - The Herkules was very tasty. :D

I'm so glad there are many reporters in Vienna now. This time I had the great pleasure of publishing Jutta's fantastic photos of FINJA AND NORA in KWM - and you can meet other sweet animals, too.

Have a happy Hump Day! Take care!

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

Chris, Ludmila, Britta-Gudrun - I can only agree with you! I've been looking forward to the day I can visit the zoo but now I know I will never visit that bloody (bloody in every meaning of the word!) zoo again! If there's not enough space for the animals - why the hell did they bring the pandas there and build a large enclosure for them? Excuse me for my language but I'm so angry and disappointed.

To make us feel better I published a nice article of ANNA AND ELSA IN BREMERHAVEN in KWM. Very interesting!

I wish everybody a pleasant Tuesday! Take care!
