Dear friends! I've been waiting to write this: The Fall is finally here! I hope we can enjoy the 'ruska colours' and breath in fresh air on crispy mornings. Not everybody likes the dark evenings but they can be rather cosy, too!

Britta-Gudrun - Soon it's time again to switch our watches backwards. I wonder when we get rid of this ....

Chris - I sure wish the brownie best of luck!

Leider blieb die versprochene Sonne
heute aus. Bei Inversion hatten wir
Hochnebel, der sich den ganzen
Tag nicht lichten wollte.
Trotzdem war ich unterwegs
und konnte einiger gefiederte
Freunde treffen.

Liebe Grüße an alle!

Britta-Gudrun - Even I hope Shauna and Nordi will be allowed to stay with Gerda as long as possible. Thanks to Anna and Arkadij the twins have become very dear to me.

Chris - I hope the golden October continues to be golden in Frankfurt! :D

GUTEN ABEND

We had a wonderful sunny, warm afternoon.
I spent the time on a bench at the river. :)
There are still many insects on their way,
like butterflies, bees and dragonflies. :)
I wish everybody a cosy evening !

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

Yeo - Oh bear, I didn't know you even injured your knee. I hope anyway it's not too serious! Physiotherapy isn't so fun but maybe it will help.

Chris - Friida certainly did her best trying to take the duckie by surprise. I'm glad though the bird managed to escape!

It's again time to meet THE HAPPY TROJKA IN NOVOSIBIRSK in KWM! Arkadij has taken fantastic photos of Gerda, Nordi and Shauna.

I wish everybody a very pleasant Tuesday!

Good morning dear all!

@ Mervi
I'm very happy, that MengMeng does a good Job. She is a good mother. The Panda-twins are so cute! ♥️♥️♥️

@ Dumba

@ Knuti-Judy
I wish you too a pleasant Day 🍀

Denen geht's wohl gut.! 😲

I wish you all a pleasant Tuesday! 🍀🍀🍀

Ralph - Meng Meng is certainly doing a great job as a mother. I'm so glad both babies are doing fine. Of course, I mustn't forget another great mum in Berlin - Tonja! Hertha is already a very confident young polar bear lady and it's a pure pleasure to see them together. Sometimes they look more like sisters but then suddenly the 'scene' turnes into a beautiful moment with a mother and her cub. - I sincerely hope YWP will continue rescuing unhappy bears! - We need some magic in this sometimes so cold and cruel world. I raise my glass to magic, too! Thank you for your kind words about this place!

Knuti-Judi - Hopefully it's a good Monday for you, too!

Britta-Gudrun - Maybe you're already in the land of dreams so I wish you a good night!

Looking at Tonja, I always wonder how Knut would have coped with her, if, as planned, they had been brought together. After Giovanna and the three ladies (well, at least Tosca and Nancy), Tonja would have been an even bigger shock, I still remember her first jump into the water in the Tierpark as reported by Doris Webb.
Perhaps, like the actor James Dean, Knut's star shone too brightly too soon. He and Thomas Doerflein (almost like the Great and Little Bear constellations) have an immortality in our hearts and minds.
I for one am grateful to Knut (and Antonia) for bringing Polar Bears back into my world.
But I am delighted to be able to watch Tonja and Hertha showing what these wonderful animals can do, given the chance.
I raise a glass to the magic and to these pages

Am back un the Library this morning and have been catching up with Knutis Weekly.
It is fascinating to compare the baby Pandas with Hertha.
The Pandas, before humans destroyed their habitats, were able to live without much danger, protected by their Mum's powerful claws. So they can stay cute and helpless like human babies till they grow up. Polar Bears on the other hand must walk for miles with their Mum and start learning how to hunt from an early age. Hertha has a wonderful teacher in Tonja. Tonjas milk has been so rich that Hertha already almost looks like Tonjas sister.
But Meng Meng has also proved to be a great Mum. We were all worried about the shy young Panda who kept walking backwards. But maybe like Giovanna thumping closed doors which was in fact a sign of frustration that she could not go where she wanted.
The pictures of two Mums in Berlin with their cubs has been a long time in coming. Berlin deserves to celebrate these animals.
The story of the Japanese bears is a sad one. Bur YWP extended their lives by a year and gave them a taste of freedom after captivity. The enclosure had been built for Yupik from Mexico. But actually looking at pictures of Yupik she was in better shape than the brown bears. They really needed rescuing.

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Dear fluffy angel - The golden October is more silvery today. :D

Dumba - Oh bear, not only this month but even this year is rapidly going towards new times .... - It's so sad the bears had to live in miserable living conditions the major part of their lives. At least their last months were happier. May they sleep in peace now.

MENG MENG'S BABIES are doing fine and now they've opened their eyes. More of this in KWM.

I wish everybody a pleasant Monday and a happy week!

Britta-Gudrun - Monika's photos really are fantastic but, of course, she has two wonderful photo models in Tonja and Hertha! :D

Dave - Even though I love the Winter time I hope the Old Grump will not make his entry too soon! :D

Chris - Wow! You saw a raccoon and a nutria by the river! Can't help being a little envious. I hope they both keep away from the roads - and from the people, too! Some people are more dangerous than cars are.

Uncle Sergej invites everybody for an evening drink.

und ein Nutria. :)

Wünsche einen gemütlichen Restsonntag !

Good Day.

Another sunny day here in Waterloo. The temperature is supposed to reach 18C, but right now it's only 8C. I'll be chipping away at the outdoor chores today and then a motorcycle ride, followed by a long walk later in the afternoon. It is good to take advantage of these rare nice weather days before the Old Grump shows up.

Tomorrow is election day in Canada. I hope that the country doesn't give Trudeau another majority government. We can't afford four more years of "free" money giveaways.. As some of the campaign signs say, "He's not as advertised".

Time to get outside.

Have a nice, relaxing Sunday.
