Welcome Fall with rain!

Posted by Mervi on September 7, 2022 at 4:15 AM

Dear friends! This Summer has been extremely warm - or rather extremely hot. The nature is still suffering from the dry weather but let's hope the Fall will be more merciful!

GUTEN TAG

Unfortunately we have the clouds, or is it high fog, after a clear, stary night.
But its not cold and also dry, so a tour will be started soon! :)

MERVI - thats exactly the problem: Europe seems to be less united than
ever: and in this situation with Russia and the devil, its the worst thing.

LUDMILA - every country has such an Idioten-Partei today, its a mess.

Shure we now CORA, the lovely lady from Brno :D
I hurry to KM - wishing everybody a pleasant Sunday!

Good day! Guten Tag! October and November seem to be fighting about the weather because we have sun in one minute and rain two minutes. After the rain the sun comes again for a short visit ... and so on ....

Chris - So many European countries have very weak governments. It's very bad because the current situation in the world would need strong politicians who people can trust.

Dave - What a bad and sad week you had. I'm sorry you had to deal with such sad news.- I hope your team won the game. Well, I'm sure that at least the Knutsteiners were to your satisfaction.

Leti - You're doing a great job with the stray cats.

Britta-Gudrun - I hope Django appreciates the warmth of the sofa now that the days are getting chilly.

Ludmila - How did your gardening go? Was Wasja satisfied with your work? :D

In KM you will find Martina's nice article of CORA in the Brno Zoo. As you may remember she's the mother of Noria in Rostock.

I wish everybody a most pleasant Sunday! Take care and enjoy the Autumn colours!

Good morning! Guten Morgen!
Chris
The People's Party of Canada is a right-wing populist party. Nothing good.
I wish you all a nice Sunday.

GOOD EVENING

Now its official: Giorgia Meloni is the first female prime-minister of Italy.
Unfortunately its the most far right-wing coalition since 1945...
Lets see, when they will fight against each other?

DAVE - I am sorry, to hear of the deaths of your friends. Especially the
case in Florida seems to be suspicious? 59 is no age... :(

LETI - do you have cats in your household ? We have no straycats
here, but sometimes some neighbour-cats visit our property. :)

Tomorrow they predict 22C - then there will be the masses outside.
Luckily we have the summertime one more week: the weather will
stay for some days, as I heard... :)

And now krimi-time - erstaunlicherweise gibt es heute gute Filme. :)

Good evening!

Oh, it's busy here today, that's fine.
Leti, you do a good work by feeding the street cats. Yes, unfortunately there are far too many in the southern countries, because they are not castrated on a large scale and the few animal shelters are also overloaded.

Dave, my heartfelt condolences for the sad losses you have experienced recently. The unknown circumstances are always the most stressful and suicide even more so.

Have a nice sunny weekend!

Mervi and Chris-I am trying to do what I can for the stray cats. I wish I could do more. There are other people who feed them too. The cats seem to be happy.

Good Morning

Thank you for all the birthday wishes last week..

After 4 days of rainy, cold, dismal weather we are finally getting a sort of "Indian" summer. I'm not sure if it is politically correct to use that term anymore. Although they are clean, today I'm going to hang my winter apparel on the clothesline to freshen them up after spending months hanging in the closet. It is sunny and 14C with a high of 18C predicted for the afternoon. The next 4 days are supposed to be low 20s and sunny, but we'll see. The lousy weather has knocked a lot of the leaves out of the trees but there are still some awesome colours to be seen.

Last weekend I was quite busy. A friend's brother committed suicide in June and the memorial was held on Oct.15 so I spent most of the afternoon out at their farm. Then Saturday evening a flood of emails arrived bearing bad news of one of our Muskoka friend's passing in Florida. He was found at the bottom of the stairs and I still am not sure what happened. Only 59 years old with his first granddaughter born a few months ago. His funeral is today. Sunday I spent the day with my Mom.

Ralph, Chris - I wish that our Prime Minister of selfies would resign. Most countries seem to have 2 main political parties....center leaning to the right or the left. The federal parties here in Canada are the Liberals, Conservatives and New Democratic Party(NDP). There are also a few parties like the Greens(only 2 members in Parliament), Bloc(all Quebec) and the crazy People's Party.

The Liberals used to be centrist while the Cons were center right and the NDP leftist. Now the Liberals under Trudeau have pushed into the NDP territory while the Cons edge closer to the right. The NDP, which has always supported Green initiatives, has pushed the Green Party closer to "extinction". There is a lack of political interest across all age groups with my age group being insulted by the millenials as out of touch.

There seems to have been a shift in how some Canadians think since Covid19 hit us in March 2020. The government handouts during the initial phase of the pandemic have increased the "money for nothing" mindset. They want free stuff but don't know or want to do what is required to get it,....like raising taxes to cover the costs or working. Everyone wants to eat the bread but nobody wants to bake it.

Patricia - My war on window streaks has been won...by me. For the last 25 years I used an automobile foaming glass cleaner which always did an awesome job. It would seem that they changed the formula, for now it leaves a film after wiping. I went back to the hot water and vinegar routine as well as a squeegee instead of hand wiping. The only problem is that I now have a craving for fish and chips. :)

Now it's time to rotate the car tires, go for a motorcycle ride, a walk, BBQ steak and then watch the NY Yankees baseball game. Playoff baseball is the only time I watch, especially if it is a team that I like. A few cold Knutsteiners might be consumed after the motorcycle ride.

Have a great day.

GUTEN MITTAG

MERVI - I don t believe, the swedish coalition will last long...
By the way the "Ampel-Koalition" in Berlin is a mess too.
In my opinion the politicians are no longer able, to solve the
problems of modern times - often they are "Beamtenkoepfe".
Best example is our little chancelor Scholzi-Bolzi... :p
Es waere lustig, wenn es nicht so traurig waere...

LUDMILA - we also have the fine, sunny weather. Very
warm for late Oktober! Raking the leaves is my daliy
routine now. Later a tour to the wood. :D

I wish everybody a pleasant saturday and weekend !

This will have been the warmest & sunniest October
since years, although we have on more week till
Halloween - ich bin sehr zufrieden dies Jahr ! :)

Good morning! Guten Morgen! It's a grey and foggy day here. Maybe November will let us know it's coming with giant steps ...

Chris - I hope the movie was good!

Ralph - We have a horror movie going on in Sweden, too! I'm convinced it won't have a happy ending.

Ludmila - I'm sure your gardening goes like dance now that Wasja is supervising you!

I wish everybody a cosy Saturday. Take care!

Hello friends!
Today the sun is shining and it is warm. We have a lot to do in the garden. Wasja is outside and is not far away from us.
Ralph
We watch often the movies in the evening. The daily news are not good in Germany too. It is good to see something different on TV.

Enjoy the film Chris. We have our own horror film unfolding here in England. Boris Johnson is reported to have said he is willing to come back as PM.
General De Gaulle would tell you all that he was right to saying Non to Britain joining the European Community.
Shakespeare would love it

Britta-Gudrun - I hope you've had a pleasant Sofa Day!

Chris - Very often I feel I don't know this world anymore. Many people have turned to phone carrying robots .... or is it me that has changed.

Ralph - Thank you for the 'history lesson' about the British prime ministers! - I don't understand why the so called reality shows on TV are so popular. I tried to see one or two of them but found only extremely stupid participants playing stupid games.

Patricia - I hope the puppies are fully recovered now and wish them lots of health in the future! - You quoted the good old Romas 'give people bread and circus games' and they'll be happy. That's exactly what the populist parties are doing - although they mostly offer 'circus games' more than bread.

Leti - I't great you will feed the stray cats!

Ludmila - I'm so sad about the death of Darius. We have lost so many beloved animals during the last couple of weeks.

Wow! There really is a lot of reading today in our Knuipe. Just like the old days! Fantastic! :D

Ludmila Devastated to learn about Darius. I know he missed his mate. I remember the wonderful RBB programmes with his keepers and the time he met the boxer.

What is confusing for people who live outside Britain is that there are various different bits whose future is now in play.
As I have mentioned, Scotland may well vote for independence within the next few years.
Northern Ireland now has a majority of Catholics instead of Scottish Protestants in its population. Sinn Fein the Irish Republican party is now the largest. A referendum on unification with the South will happen in the next decade.
That leaves England and Wales.
Despite the name, fewer people live in Wales than in Yorkshire.
But the big divide is between London and the counties that surround it like Oxfordshire and the rest of the country.
No other city in the world except New York has such an ethnically diverse population or range of skills and activities.
London's wealth keeps the rest of Britain going. Despite Brexit international companies have stayed in London moving only small parts of their operations to Amsterdam and Frankfurt.
Most Londoners voted to remain in the EU and it is also very anti the Tories despite its role as a financial centre.
The present upheavals in England will continue.

Chris Sadly most Brits rather like most Americans rarely travel outside their own neighbourhood. Even those who do simply go to Florida or Spain for the weather.
The impact of Brexit is mainly on the young. Travel, work, education in Europe.
Scotland is fortunate in having Ms Sturgeon as First Minister. She is determined to have another vote on Independence. There is a good chance that she will do so.
Ludmila Larry is a civil servant like I was so he does not need to be elected.
