Welcome Fall with rain!

Posted by Mervi on September 7, 2022 at 4:15 AM

Dear friends! This Summer has been extremely warm - or rather extremely hot. The nature is still suffering from the dry weather but let's hope the Fall will be more merciful!

MERVI - Sunaks Motto: "regaining trust after Truss" - ob das wohl gelingt?

See you all in the evening (wobei hier ja abends nichts mehr los ist)

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

Chris - Do you remember the song 'Send in the clowns'. I think it would be a suitable start for the meetings with the world leaders today. Well, for some of them I would prefer 'Hit the road, Jack'.

Ralph - 'Political change needs to come from ordinary people realising what needs to be done.' Througout the history we've seen examples of how it's done - unfortunately often with lots of violence.

Ludmila - I don't think any of us understands what our governments and parliaments are doing. One thing's for sure - they're not doing much!

Britta-Gudrun - It was very cloudy here, too, so no chance to see the solar eclipse.

Today you can meet the GOLDEN GUYS - Sisu, Nobby, Indy and Yuma in KM. The boys look happy so I am happy, too.

Have a pleasant Tuesday and take care!

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

innerhalb Wochen. Die Regierung hat
abgewirtschaftet. Wären jetzt Wahlen,
ein Drittel der Tories müsste nach Haus
gehen. Ich verstehe, dass die Abgeord-
neten haben Angst vor der Wahl. Aber
es wäre ehrlicher gegenüber dem Volk.
Johnson hat zuviel gelogen, Truss war
total unfähig und Sunak ist ein Snob.
Das alles ist sehr unerfreulich !

Chris All.political parties are free to change their leaders at any time. Under our system it is the party with a majority of MPs who puts forward one of their MPs to be the King's Prime Minister.
I understand why people who dont like this government want an election. But using your argument Herr Scholz should have had another election for German voters to approve his coalition with the FDP and the Greens since noone had voted for this arrangement before it was made.
It is academic as in Britain the leaders of the three main parties are all men with little contact or knowledge of how the rest of us live.
I doubt whether Mr Starmer and his team wiould make much difference to the big problems we have as a country.
Political change needs to come from ordinary people realising what needs to be done.
The generation of voters coming up may demand more than we have done. They claim to be worried about the environment and global warming as well as calling for a more equal and tolerant society. Whether they will work harder to make these things happen is still a very open question.

Es ist ja sehr ruhig heute: seid
ihr alle schon im Winterschlaf?

KURZER MITTAGSGRUSS

Keine Sonnenfinsternis mangels Blick zum Himmel.
Aber man hat es ja schon gesehen... ;) (z.B.1999)

MERVI - a return of the Clown would have been the
biggest joke of history (and he lied again). But I fear,
that the candidate now is a mess too...
Politicians are no longer able, to solve the problems.

See you all in the evening in alter Frische! :D

By the way: Macron visited the Pope - what
he and his wife wanted there ? :P

Good morning! Guten Morgen! October and November are still fighting .... :D

Chris - I wonder how long this right wing hausse will continue .... a revolution is needed in many countries although for different reasons. The rich get richer and the poor people get poorer. How long will people accept that the clowns are making the rules?

Britta-Gudrun - I'm glad to hear Django is staying at home where he's warm and comfortable.

Dave - Sorry about the Yankees lost the game but there will be new chances. - Thanks for explaining what the Canadian parties are about.

Ralph - Bojo has declared he won't be running for prime minister. At least one thing did right.

I wish everybody a good new week! Take care! I'm off to the editor's room hoping I will soon have saved the articles from KWM that I want and can save.

GUTEN MORGEN

Kansas City has beaten Megan Rapinoes Ol Reign in Seattle. :)
A miracle will be true. Saturday the grand final against Portland !

RALPH - all seems to go to the Pakistani Billionär Sunak.
I think, its time to have a new election for the british people.
Its no longer an affair of the Torie party and their exlusive
members - its a shame, what happens in London.

After the thunderstorm yesterday evening we have a
clear sky again, its pretty warm. I hope for a nice day.

Until the 1990s the Members of Parliament in Britain from the two main political parties all had real jobs as well as being MPs. This meant that they came into daily contact with the lives of ordinary people.
Nowadays MPs are expected to be full time politicians so that they are like civil servants and members of the government. This may sound sensible but it has led to them having very little understanding of the problems of their constituents. It has also led to most MPs being lawyers or similar well paid professions. This is true even in the Labour party where MPs no longer seem to have worked in factories or the health service.

GUTEN ABEND

The weather was fantastic again, still very warm.
I had to use some "Schleichwege", to avoid the
masses on the ordinary bike-ways. :p

BRITTA - ich konsumiere keine Stangenware.
Ich sehe ausschliesslich Spielfilme, meist aus
dem Ausland. Tatorte oder deutsche Serien
schaue ich schon seit Jahrzehnten nicht. :)
Lohn der Angst ist ein sehr gewalttaetiger
Film, den duerftest Du dann auch nicht
schauen - jeder nach seiner Facon... ;)

RALPH - die Schere zwischen reich und arm
geht immer weiter auseinander, es ist schon
asozial, was die oberen Zehntausend treiben.

DAVE - I remember the stupid Convoy
very good - it was criminal, what these
people did in the canadian Capital !
Canada is big what the country belongs,
but very small with his population of the
half dozen of bigger Cities in the south.
Sometimes it seems very provincial...
Then there are the problems between
french and english States, its not easy.

Tonight halffinal of the NWSL, it was
an interesting season this year.... :)

I can t believe: we have a thunderstorm !
Thats very unusual for late October...

The rise of populist right wing politicians in all the major democracies reflects the fact that average wages for ordinary people have not increased at the same rate as the incomes of the wealthy. This has led the average voter to look round for someone to blame. Migrants and those on welfare benefits are also seen by many as doing too well at the expense of ordinary taxpayers.
The failure of traditional moderate centre parties whether right or left to answer these questions and improve the lot of ordinary people who rely on a wage and see themselves as over taxed compared with both rich and poor has opened the door to Trump, Boris and co.
For example in Britain both extreme right and left wing politicians have opposed membership of the European Comnunity and later the EU on the grounds that it has made thr rich nations like Germany richer and the poorer ones like Greece and many parts of Britain poorer.
The poor quality of centrist politicians today makes them less able to argue against the extremists.

Good Morning.

It is sunny and already 10C this morning. My brother Rick is coming over at 11:00AM to change his car to winter tires. Then at 1:00PM my mom and other 2 brothers are coming over for a visit. I hope that we can sit outside as it is supposed to reach 20C today.

Chris - Ludmila is correct. The People's Party of Canada(PPC) is a right-wing populist party started by a former minister from Prime Minister Stephen Harper's cabinet. After running for the party leadership and finishing second in 2017, Maxime Bernier resigned from the Conservative party and formed the new federal party to focus on disaffected voters. He used the political rise of France's Emmanuel Macron as an example. He lost his own seat to a Conservative in the 2019 election. No PPC candidate has ever been elected to parliament. I believe that the rise of the PPC has caused the Conservative party to lose up to 8 ridings and gave Trudeau his 2 consecutive minority governments.

I refer to them as crazy because they were opposed to Covid19 restrictions and lockdowns, and even held a national rally here in Waterloo. They supported the idiotic Freedumb(my spelling) Convoy which was organised in 2022 to end all Covid19 mandates. Their platform, including foreign affairs, immigration, the economy and chasing conspiracies mirrors that of Trump. The party was found to have members associated with white supremist groups, and was riddled with internal racism. They received 850,000 votes in the 2021 election.

Mervi - The Yankees lost.

Now I get ready for my busy day.

Have a nice, peaceful Sunday.
