What an unusual Spring this is!

Dear friends! In the previous thread I was wondering what the Spring would be like this year. Now we know it's most 'odd' due to the covid-19 virus. The world isn't the same it was only a few weeks ago. I hope we will all stay in good health and keep an optimistic mind. Better times will come - sooner or later!

GOOD EVENING

Another sunny and hot day.
We urgently need rain. Now
they predict rain for Monday,
but I will believe it, if its real.

I wish everybody a happy easter
although there are dark clouds
around us. But we cannot think
the whole day of the covid-shit.

Ich bin an der Bar fuer einen Drink.

Yeo - Who would have believed we would experience a time like this?

Dave - Even here we can see old sport events. - I'm glad to hear your aunt and uncle are doing reasonably well. I hope they will recover totally soon!

Ralph - I agree with you. The keepers in the zoos are doing a fantastic job taking care of their animals. That's why Uncle Sergej has created a drink called 'Ode to the zoo keepers'. What can I say but a big cheers!!

Good news Dave and Patricia, hope all get well soon. Am inside being safe.
The Novosibirsk Polars are just the thing to cheer us up. The cubs really love Gerda and follow her every move.
The videos from the Zoo remind us that the keepers have to go to work come what may. I think it would be nice to drink to everyone who has to go to work to look after animals wherever they are.

Good Day.

It is grey, windy and 2C here in Waterloo. It is like a ghost town here due to the holiday weekend. Most people are staying home except for walks.

As an industrial maintenance mechanic I am used to organising things. Scheduling shutdown of a machine, ordering parts, materials and equipment for the job and working under time constraints is one facet of my trade. Also, if I didn't plan daily jobs, I would sleep in, eat more, drink more and get lazy. I know that when the time comes to go back to work I will be busy with some physically demanding jobs, so I need to keep active for however long I am unemployed.

Patricia - It is good to hear that your health is starting to improve. Keep up the fight. My aunt and uncle have mild symptoms at this time. Light cough or slight fever.

Since there are no sports to watch, the channels have been broadcasting games from the past. I have been re-watching the Toronto Blue Jays' two consecutive World Series Championships from 1992 and 1993. Stanley Cup and Super Bowl games are played again as well. It is fun to watch some of the players who have been retired for years.

Since I did my chores through the week, my Saturdays and Sundays are free, the way they should be.

Have a great Saturday.

I hope, that you all are well

The time isn't boring for me. The weather is warm and sunny. I'm sittig in the Garden and read an interesting histrical book. The title is "Charité'. It's is in the time of 1831, when the Cholera come to Berlin. The selve situation like now!

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

Dave - The old movies and the old actors are much better than the new. Well, the actors nowadays don't have to act so much - the stuntmen do the job. :D

Chris - It's nice to see how the keepers want to bring Easter joy to their animals.

Ludmila - Wow! You did a 21 km hike! Chapeau!

Patricia - I'm very glad to hear you're feeling better. Take care!

Britta-Gudrun - I hope even Django is spending more time indoors these days.

Dumba - We were writing at the same time! Thank you for the nice Easter greetings in the Backroom!

In KWM you can admire Arkadi's family portraits of GERDA, SHAUNA AND NORDI. I hope his photos will put you in a good Saturday mood!

PATIRICIA it's happy news that you are feeling better . . . I agree what you said about DAVE: also I admire the quantity of tasks and chores he manages well planned and regularly . . . . .BUT also youself are a busy bee, still working for your office, managing your household, cooking yummy meals, caring so well for your cats and relatives and colleagues and friends!

Good morning Dear All,
This night, I had no fever and could sleep rather good without too much coughing. I still have not much energy and force, but I feel better. Let us hope that it improves like that day by day.
Dave, you are a real busy bee and actually, I envy your organizational skills for cleaning things. I am keeping all digits crossed for your uncle and aunt. Here in Belgium, it is disastrous for the people in seniority houses.
We have again another very sunny day, but some rain is predicted for tomorrow. And to be honest, nature needs this water. Everything is again soo arid. At the end of February, one could sink in the mud because of all that rain and now there is already a shortage of the ground water!!!!
Britta-Gudrun, how lovely to read that this young couple came to help you with the garden furniture so that you could enjoy each others' company while respecting the distance.

I'll join you for an Easter Eggnog, with an extra shot of rum.

Mervi - The old movies, which I like to watch, are all about the story and acting. Special effects are the big attraction these days. I read " And Then There Were None" in high school.

Ralph - The snow is gone already. The sun came out in the late afternoon and melted it away. The Toronto Zoo laid off most of its staff except for those responsible for animal health and welfare.

Have a Good Knight.

Another sunny and warm day.
The drought goes on - watering
the garden is daily duty now....

Today I noticed, that the pair of
red milan is in the same tree as
last year and the year before.
So I can visit them every day.
Lets hope, they will have a
successfull breed soon. :)

There were many people on
their way - so sometimes its
difficult, to find a quiet place.
But I can understand it. In
the evening we all are
locked in our homes.
You have to go out !

Britta-Gudrun - What a nice visit you had! They had thought of everything so you could just enjoy.

Ralph - I'm sure your teddies will help you if things will get too chaotic! :D

Dave - I'm sorry to hear your aunt and uncle are hit by the covid-19. I wish them a speedy recovery. - If people around you were sneezing and coughing you did the right thing cleaning everything. Better do things thoroughly than regret .... - The old thrillers and detective stories were very entertaining and thrilling without special effects. The new movies ARE special effects and not so much more. I know I was born during the stone age but I simply don't like the new films - with a very few exceptions.

Uncle Sergej is ready to treat you with his special Easter eggnog! :D

Davr Hope it works out ok for your Aunt and Uncle.
The Polars in Zoos will be pleased by the snow.
I wish I were as organised as you sound. My sorting and tidying causes more chaos

Good Day.

Patricia - Best wishes for a full recovery.

Ludmila - It is good to hear that Uwe is better.

Old Man Winter showed up again yesterday. It started snowing at around 7:30PM, then let off for a while but there was a white coating on everything this morning. Right now it is windy, grey and 1C. Maybe Chris could send that summer weather over here.

Tuesday I went out for my grocery run. I wore a mask when shopping in the bigger stores where there were more people. The other stores that I visited were fairly empty. When I got home I wiped or rinsed all items, stripped down and threw the clothing into the washer followed by drying on high temperatures.. Then I had a hot shower and afterwards wiped the car, door knobs and anything else that I touched. It may seem a little extreme, but if you saw all the people out there who don't distance or practice proper coughing/sneezing etiquette you would probably do the same. Now I am good for another two weeks.

Bad news from my cousin is that 18 residents, including my aunt and uncle, and 6 staff have tested positive for Covid in the old age home where they live. So far they seem to be OK, but time will tell.

I have been stripping my office down to give it a good cleaning. I'm thinning out my book shelves and getting a donation ready for when things calm down. A few hours a day of work and then some time spent playing online cards or scrabble.

Last week I watched "The Most Dangerous Game " from 1932 and Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" from 1945. Both were entertaining. No special effects required.

I'll be back for a cocktail later.

Guten Abend!
