What an unusual Spring this is!

Dear friends! In the previous thread I was wondering what the Spring would be like this year. Now we know it's most 'odd' due to the covid-19 virus. The world isn't the same it was only a few weeks ago. I hope we will all stay in good health and keep an optimistic mind. Better times will come - sooner or later!

To ALL/e

A quite easy to read (English) and interesting article in an America science magazine 'Scientific American', published May 31st, 2020 - titled

'Social Distancing at the Zoo', including 2 Videos (a short one about a meeting of a penguin with seals at the visitors-window AND a rather long = approximately half-an-hour-one. The second one is mainly information about Galapagos turtles told by a keeper but in the end there is also a short as much 'social distancing'- as 'social enrichment***-showing meeting between a turtle and a chimpanzee-family!
*** I love this expression!

Good morning! Guten Morgen! The sunny weather is still here.

Dumba - I would have been very angry about the new arrangements without informing you. You had made such a lot of work preparing the sallad and then the travels by bus and S-bahn. You did the right thing saying 'thanks, but no thanks'! You certainly deserved to spoil yourself a little! - I'm glad to hear your evening was much nicer!

Ludmila - Wow! Another challenging hiking tour! However, I guess it's more exhausting to try to find a cat who doesn't want to come in! :D

Today it's again time for two sweet polar bear cubbies - ANNA AND ELSA IN BREMERHAVEN - to entertain you in KWM. With the cute couple I wish everybody a very good Tuesday!

Good morning! Guten Morgen!
The sun is shining. We had a turbulent night. Momo did not want to go inside. :) He came home about 4am. Katharina and I called for him many times during the night.
Herkules is ready

Danke fuer Dein Mitgefuehl, liebe Ludmila.

I am very sorry for you. It was frustrating.

The weather was great today. We did a long hiking trip to Brocken. Now we are tired :)

. . . DANKE.

QUOTE Mervi:
"I hope people will remember the restrictions and not get too excited about the Summer weather". . .
Even though I don't panic, I have to admit that I cannot agree more.

e.g. : Originally I was invited for the birthday of my friend's daughter yesterday in the afternoon.
I had already cooked and sliced the potatoes for a hopefully yummy potatoe-salad and packed everything I needed for the dressing together with the gift out of my 'Schatztruhe' (which was an expressed desire of the birthday child!) and hurried to bus and SBahn as I was already late. When I rang the bell there was no answer. Consequently after a while I made a mobile phone call and it showed after some phone-to-and-fro hat my friend and her birthday daughter had decided to celebrate far from home at a party spot!!!! due to the fantastic weather! My friend confirmed several times that one could respect social distancing there and that everybody was in the garden and not inside. . . . But that was really too much for me and I refused, even though she was already on her way back by car from that place to her daughter's place in orderr to pick me up. . . After 20 minutes of waiting (I was still tired from the zoo visit and by my hurting legs and back and by the weight I had to carry before - and no possibility to sit!) my friend arrived and after a 10 minutes conversation and exchange of the gifts she returned to her daughter and I at home. . . . No, not immediately: After the first bus ride I took a looong rest on a bus station's waiting bench and after the SBahn-ride and the second bus-ride I spoiled myself with some treats. First with coffee and icecream at 'Suedkreuz' and then with dinner in the neighbourhood with salmon, wild asparagus and young potatoes accompanied by an 'Aperol Spritz' :-) . . .Such I returned home finally at 7 PM only . . .

It's as with children: to eat is next to the best comfort! ;-) . . . Don't you agree!? ;-)

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Grocery shopping is done so we have all we need for a week or two ..... It's very hot today - I hope people will remember the restrictions and not get too excited about the Summer weather. :D

Chris - The baby bears are adorable! They are certainly not afraid of hights! :D

Ludmila - I'm hoping we can soon be able to visit Copenhagen. We waited so long for polar bear cubbies there. Now that there are two young bears we can't visit them - isn't that typical or what!!

In KWM you can enjoy Gisela's excellent report from BÃ?RENWALD MÃ?RITZ with lovely photos of the brownies.

I wish everybody a good start of the new week! Don't forget to keep the distance!

The situation will change. You would be allowed to travel to Denmark too.
I hope we will be allowed to travel in Europa in the summer.

Ludmila - Thank you for the report from Hannover! I'll write my comment later.

Ralph - Dumba has really managed to put together a wonderful 'Katjuscha Special'. There's such a fantastic personal touch of the article.

Britta-Gudrun - It seems to me you had a wonderful day with friends.

Dave - You've so busy today so Uncle Sergej is running to you with a six pack of Knutsteiners! :D

Now the Swedes are allowed to travel through Denmark. We are allowed to take the train or drive to the Copenhagen Airport or drive to the ferry terminals but we're not allowed to stay in Denmark. This means that a zoo visit in Copenhagen is out of question so far.

Good Afternoon.

I was busy drawing up a blueprint for my cousin. She wants to build a deck to support a swimming pool for her son. Their backyard has a slope to it so they can't fill the pool with too much water. A deck will give them a level surface.

It is partly sunny with 13C temperatures so I am going to get out for a long walk before the rain shows up later this afternoon.

Have a nice, peaceful Sunday.

It is good that you go for a walk.

What with the wonderful Kati story in KWM and so much to read here, I will have to catch up.
I am still observing lockdown surrounded by my animals. But I was out in the sun this morning and I am very lucky to be able to walk to some good local supermarkets before the sun gets too hot.

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

Annemarie - What a nice morning you had with your team again. I'm sure Madame Nini was very happy about the charming card. Our Uncle Sergej can be a romantic fool when he feels like it. :D - It's great that our Knugarden is protected from the covid-19. Well, even an evil virus has respect for our bear army! :D - "Schwabenland trifft Nordsee": Maultasche von der Meerforelle mit Ingwerbirne, Spinat und Meerrettichsauce' sounds like an exciting dish so that's my choice today. - Thank you so much for the wonderful Pentercost bulletine!

Yeo - When I first saw the word 'Schlange' I thought you saw a snake but then I though a 500 meters long snake would be too much .... :D - What a pity the zoo was so crowded but you could visit the monestery anyway.

Dumba - I'm afraid that this pandemi season will result in political chaos in the whole world. 45 is, naturally, causing lots of problems. I can never understand how this idiot could be elected!

Britta-Gudrun - I wish you and Django unten den Linden a happy Pentercost!

The lead article in KWM has been about Snow Lilly during all May but now it's time to honour another grand old lady - KATJUSCHA! Dumba has visited her and taken wonderful photos!

I wish everybody a most pleasant Sunday. I guess tomorrow will be a holiday for many of you so enjoy it!
