Die Knuipe

Year 2020, please, be nice to us!

Posted by Mervi on January 8, 2020 at 8:35 AM

Dear friends! The year 2020 is rolling. Even though this year had a miserable start with the fires in Australia and the tragedy in Krefeld I hope the rest of the year will be better!

OEF, back to normal,
Ludmila, yes, you are right with regard to the parents of Greta. But fact is that the young girl was suffering of depression since many years and in an effort to help her, they decided to give up certain things in their life. To be very honest, I am often afraid to what extend Greta is now used for the honor and benefit of others (parents included) and unfortunately, she is still too young to defend herself.
Ralph, there is definitely nothing wrong with youngsters having an opinion of their own. We all were once young and stood up and contested against what we thought was wrong. So, I will be the last person on earth to blame them.
If ever the Aalborg girls will come to Pairi Daiza, one thing is for sure: I am quite convinced that they will have a nice enclosure. Of course, it is not certain whether your contact with the girls will be as close as in Aalborg. But on the other hand, we all know that a polar bear is remembering the scents he/she once learned. And therefore, the girls will most probably remember you.

heute am See entdeckt :)

Bin zurueck von meiner Tour.
Es ist jetzt schon laenger hell. :)
Es waren viele Voegel zu sehen.

Nach Sonnenuntergang wurde es
eisig kalt und ich bin schnell nach
Hause gefahren. :)

War wieder schwer rein zukommen.

PATRICIA - you wrote vesterday, that
nuclear power ist the most save and
clean source. Where will Belgium
put his nuclear waste ? In Germany
we have no place till now. And how
safe was Harrisburg, Tschernobyl
and Fukushima ? Nuclear power
is a contract with the devil, in
my opinion. Nobody knows,
where to put all the waste
and the parts of the power
stations, if they will be re-
build some day in future!

MERVI - we were lucky
with the sun. Yesterday
it was really dull & grey.

Ludmila - Wasja is an excellent cook! :D

Chris - I hope you met many feathered friends by the river.

Britta-Gudrun - It's been a very grey day here, too but now it's dark so I can't see the greyness. :D

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Oh bear, the server problems just won't stop! Grrrrr!! I'm glad to notice that so many of you have written here despite the problems!

Patricia - I can imagine it wasn't very pleasant to have so many sick cats around. I'm glad to hear they're all doing fine now. - It would be great if you and Ralph could visit Pairi Daiza together!

Chris - thanks for the email! We can only keep our fingers crossed!

Annemarie - My belated happy birthday wishes to your husband and many greetings to Sherwin!

Ludmila - I've caught a slight cold. I wonder if Wasja could cook more Borsch for me? :D

Ralph - I'm looking forward to your report from Doncaster. I already saw some very nice photos in FB. - I'm sure Nuka would recognize you anywhere!! :D

Today's contribution in KWM comes from Ralph and the titel is TONJA AND HERTHA TALKING AND TRAINING. Very interesting and enjoyable!

I wish everybody a pleasant TDT and hope the Knuipe will be working properly soon!

Dear Patricia Thank you for the news about Pairi Daiza. The Hotel rooms sound fascinating, though as you will have seen in my reports from Aalborg I have been able to get very close to Nuka and Quillak at the glass there. I wonder if Nuka would recognise me at the window in the hotel there.

As Mervi mentioned, I was at Yorkshire Wildlife Park yesterday. The weather was good for filming and the bears came close than usual. I am editing my pictures and hope to let Mervi have a report next year.

There is nothing new about teenagers thinking they can change the world. I remember friends at school praising Mao Tse Tung, Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro as people changing the world "for the young". Twenty years later it was the dull conventional politics of Mikhail Gorbachev, Deng Xiao Ping, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and Helmut Kohl that triumphed.

As someone who worked for a government, I am sceptical about any "easy" answers. Nuclear Power was supposed to be delivered by safe fusion reactors "too cheap to meter" by the 1980s. Brown coal was dismissed as a legacy of the backward East Germans yet it is still essential to the new Germany.

I have been looking at my own use of air travel to visit Polar Bears in Zoos in Europe. I have come to the conclusion that as most of the travellers on the flights I use (high cost British Airways) are businesspeople who would be travelling anyway, my hiring a fast catamaran to Copenhagen would make little difference to the journeys of BA airbuses from Terminal 5

Good morning! Guten Morgen!
Greta says what she thinks. The problem, which I see, is, that she is not able to discuss because of her illness. Her family has enough money and connection to organise the whole program. Greta was not suddenly noticed. There is an organisation behind her. Her father is able to drive with his daughter to each place, which she wants. How many people can do such thing for their kids?

Guten Morgen,

Liebe Gruesse an alle!

LUDMILA - ich bin nicht Deutschland.
Die Regierung in Berlin habe ich nicht
gewaehlt. Ich nehme lieber Gas von
Russland, als von USA. Das ist doch,
was Trump will, dass wir unser Gas
bei ihm kaufen. Aber ohne mich. :P
Es gibt leider keine Technologie, die
unschaedlich waere fuer die Umwelt.
Dann muessen wir wieder in die Wael-
der gehen und in Huetten hausen. ;)

Zum Thema Kernkraft sage ich nur:
Harrisburg, Tschernobyl, Fukushima.
Auf diese Art der CO2-Freiheit kann
ich gerne verzichten...

Hello Dear All, I have had problems to come here during the last days, but it looks like problems are over. So, here is another attempt.
We had again another foggy day and it was only at 1:00 p.m. that the temperatures became positive. BBBBRRRR!!! Na ja, it is January and Wintertime, isnâ??t it. But after 3 days of fog, I would like to see the sun again. Yesterday morning when Karin was driving me to the station, I was really scared.
Today, I did some cleaning especially in the kitchen. And that was much needed. During the last two weeks, I had sick cats, and especially Fleur was not being well. It started with one cat of my brother, Brommelotje. She started coughing and vomiting and the rest. Then followed by Bono (another cat of my brother). Both come to me on a daily basis and tja, you can imagine what happened. It was contagious for my cats and for some of the other cats of my brother as well. Fleur, Dikke Gust, Babbelute and Rapunzel got their share (only Baby Beau and Kleintje Christobal were having nothing). Except for Fleur, my others were better after one day. But Fleur suffered of it for more than a week, just like some of Ronaldâ??s cats. But luckily, that nightmare is over now. All are feeling better and their appetite is back to normal.
Some news about Pairi Daiza: a few days ago, I read in my newspapers that they have also made hotel rooms â??under waterâ?? where the guests can observe walruses, penguins and polar bears. I do not know how far these construction works are at the moment, but they plan to open the park again on March 20. And according to the news again, all other rooms with a view to bison, wolf and brown bears do have a booking of about 80% (and they are actually not cheap). Nevertheless, that is why they decided to make the extra hotel rooms for the â??World of the Coldâ??.
Ralph, promise me one thing: if ever these rooms are ready and available and when the Aalborg girls are there, you and I will go there. Promised????
Yeo, good to read the good news. You are back home and feeling better. Wishing you more of this all.
With regard to Greta: I love it to see that a young girl is devoted to the well-being of this planet and its inhabitants. But I also read the interview of her father in which he stated that she suffered of depression for many years. In an attempt to help her, they followed her wishes. And I admire all their efforts to make her feeling happy again. Greta herself has never been lying about her problems and always has been standing put to her standpoint and for that: all my respect. There are no world leaders who can repeat the same, not now ad not in the past 50 years. Our planet may need the young ones, but not all of them. Frankly said, I do not like Anuna De Wever here in Belgium (who is doing almost the same as Greta). According to me, this girl is just impudent and arrogant and I am totally fed up with her.
And with regard to nuclear energy, according to me (but again, that is a complete personal point of view), it is the most safe and clean source.
Hope this posting is now coming.

Ralph has inserted some photos of Victor and Nobby in FB so he has met at least two of his polar bear friends in Doncaster. :D

Dann lese Mal eine Interview mit Gretas Vater ueber Gretas Probleme. Ihre Mutter hat auch ein Buch geschrieben. Greta hat ein Asperger-Syndrom. Das ist eine erstzunehmende Krankheit.
Greta redet jedes Mal vom Ende Fossilien Kraftstoffen.

also Braunkohle?

ordentlich zusammenzuarbeiten - willst Du lieber,
dass Onkel Putin die Welt regiert ?

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

Again the Ugly Server Family has been annoying us. Let's hope Uncle Sergej can chase them away!!

Chris - I agree, Greta made a fantastic speech and I agree that Mr Gaga is a total disaster!!

Ludmila - A president that gives a damn to human values is not my kind of president.

In KWM you can participate in Cranbeary's birthday party in the Alaska Zoo. I wish everybody a happy Hump Day!
