Year 2020, please, be nice to us!

Posted by Mervi on January 8, 2020 at 8:35 AM

Dear friends! The year 2020 is rolling. Even though this year had a miserable start with the fires in Australia and the tragedy in Krefeld I hope the rest of the year will be better!

Dave - Congratulations to Canadian guys for the gold! It was a thrilling game. - I hope you won't catch a cold.

Chris - Vier Pfoten is really doing a fantastic job rescuing animals. They are very serious and always present the results of their efforts - unlike many other less serious organizations.

Patricia - I wish you a speedy recovery! - Oh yes, the sun rises can be breath takingly beautiful - just like the sun sets sometimes are.

Ludmila - Uncle Sergej has, of course, prepared a large selection of drinks for us. :D

Good evening Dear All,
I am afraid that I got a new cold. But hopefully, it will be over soon or at least becoming better.
Yesterday early in the night, we had a terrible rain at 1:30 a.m. and again but less hard at 4:00 a.m. For the rest of the Friday, it stayed reasonable and today was actually a good day (albeit rather cold, but hey, it is January, isnâ??t it). And also, as usual, the night from Friday to Saturday was again a very good one for me. Each week, I am sleeping like a little baby during this night.
Dave, here in Belgium, the Winter was very mild but we still have to wait and see what February and March will bring us.
When there is a sunny moment, my cats love to go outside and who can blame them????
This morning, when the sun came up, it was just beautiful. You have the book â??Fifty Shades of Greyâ??, but here it was â??Fifty Shades of Redâ??, but after 15 minutes the yellow started to come. It is at such moment that one is wishing to have the camera by hand, but unfortunately it was not possible for me.
I am now wishing you all a lovely night.

GUTEN ABEND

The holiday season is over and its very quiet in our Knuipe.
We had a sunny, but cool day, so I was out for some biking.

DAVE - you are right about the weather - its a rollercoaster.
They predict warm weather for the middle of the week. :)
There is no winter in sight in good old Germany...

MERVI - here are some of my friends from the river:

"Vier Pfoten" has done a good job in the past. :)

Unbelievable, that our "little" LULU is nine
years old now - how fast time runs. :)

And now "Handball" - lets see, what
our boys can do against Spain. ;)

Good Morning.

Belated Birthday greetings to Yeo. I hope that you enjoyed your day.

It is 8C and has been raining since about 9:00PM last night. We are expecting to get, if you can believe it, 90mm of rain this weekend. That is not good as the ground is frozen and the water has nowhere to go. So far my basement is dry. Overnight the temps will drop and we'll get freezing rain and ice pellets. Tomorrow -7C and possibly snow. Not very good walking weather.

As Chris said, it has been a rollercoaster ride of weather. Earlier in the week we got about 6cm of snow over a few days and the temperatures plummeted to -20C by Thursday. Friday it was already 4C and climbing with fog blanketing the area due to snow melting in the fields. Now the colour is mud.

Everyone at work has a cold or some kind of illness so I have been working in the barns installing feeders and automatic watering bowls to avoid the germ filled atmosphere.

Mervi - I just completed a "bathroom from Hell" reno job at my work property's rental house. A plumber would have cost $1000s to get the work done. Very time consuming. The Canada/Russia game was pretty exciting to watch, but the refs sure slowed things down.

Today is the usual chores and I'll work on the computer. Most of my friends are sick with the flu or coming down with something else so I may not get out for a beer this afternoon.

Have a good day.

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Dear fluffy angel - it's already the 11th of January! Time is running faster than a lightning!

Dear friends! It's weekend and there are again lots of Winter sports going on! What a busy day this will be! :D

The founder of FOUR PAWS HELI DUNGLER suddenly died on the 5th of January. I've published a memory article of this great man in KWM. I hope you will honour him with a comment.

I wish everybody a very pleasant Saturday and hope this day will not bring us any sad news. This year has already started with too many tragedies!

Wo hast Du die Wildkatzen gesehen? Im Tierpark? Wahrscheinlich nicht in der Fasanerie?

Chris - You had a great visit in Hanau! - The situation in Australia is worse than we ever could have imagined. Many famous rich persons are donating big sums of money but unfortunately the money doesn't put stop to the fires. However, the money is needed for the people and the animals. - The plumber came and fixe the problem so now we can wash dishes as ususl! :D

Knuti-Judi - Oh bear, our Lulu is already nine years old! That means I'm getting older, too .... :D

Let's have a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the Danish cookies!

MERVI - thank you for the new thread.
We shall not give up hope, but reality
often is not good to mother nature. :(

Today two big fires in Australia connected
to one apocaliptic - the firefighters had
no chance, the fire will burn out now. :(
I do not want to imagine the consequen-
ces for the animals and people there. :(
Now the smoke of the fires has been
detected in the atmosphere over Chile
and Argentina - its worst, I think.

To a more postive point :)
Today I was in the Fasanerie in Hanau,
to meet my feathered friends, especially
the ravens and the peacocks. But I also
had luck, to see the wildcats and foxes.
The weather was pleasant, a suncloud
mix and not many visitors. Thats the
reason, I more like to visit the Tierpark
during wintertime, because in summer
its always overcrowded there. :)

And now tea and danish cookies! :)

MERVI - I hope, the plumber has
done his work now ! ? :)

Good morning! Guten Morgen!

We are still waiting for the plumber/s but now they promised to come in the afternoon. We hope they will keep their promise!

Ralph - Late yesterday evening I was lucky watching Malik and the cubs in the webcam. The twins were busy eating so it was lovely to watch. It's amazing how Malik with her big paws is so gentle moving her kids to a more comfortable and warm spot in her belly. The babies are getting more and more mobile and soon the bear mama will have her paws full. :D

Ludmila - Herkules is very welcome!

Yeo - I'm glad you like the new thread.

In KWM you can see some cute flashbacks to the year 2019 from the Copenhagen Zoo. The biggest star is, naturally, IMAQ!

I wish everybody a pleasant Friday and a good start of the weekend!

Late evening and I am in bed. Love the new Knut image.
There are lots of pictures on Facebook of Malik in Aalborg with her two cubs. With Nord as their father, they should be as impressive as Nuka and Quillak
