Guten Tag zur Mittagszeit!
Trotz der stuermischen Wettervorhersage sind die drei großen
Umzuege gestartet und hatten wohl auch einigermaßen Glueck.
Das freut mich. Am meisten freue ich mich, dass man aus
Sicherheitsgruenden die Mitnahme der vielen Pferde abgesagt hat,
was vor Wochen noch voellig undenkbar war -
es geht also doch - das freut auch die Tierschuetzer!
Mervi, Frimas und ihre Zwillinge sind allerliebst.
Fein, dass du wieder einen neuen
Berichterstatter vor Ort gefunden hast!

Good Morning.
It is sunny and -10C here in Waterloo. I had another solid night of sleep, so I was up early this morning. I went for a nice long walk along the creek today. Lots of mallard ducks and Canada geese sitting onshore or floating up and down the water way. It is good to be able to get outdoors and exercising again.
I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few items and I broke the zipper on my jacket as I entered the store. Needless to say I had a hard time trying to get the jacket opened when I got home. There is a tailor near my mom's home so I'll drop it off there for repairs on Monday.
I am now ordering parts for my water softener on Amazon. Sears went out of business in Canada so online is the only available source for the parts....at a price. A replacement water softener would cost between $800 and $1,000 so $50 for a tiny piece of rubber and a plastic clip seems like a better deal.
For breakfast I'll have what Mervi's having. Thank you Annemarie.
Annemarie - I believe Teddy Kennedy gave the Obama's a Portuguese water hound as a gift after Obama's election.
Mervi - Do you watch the crime series "Line of Duty"?

Oha, da war schon allerhand Betriebsamkeit beim Baerenfruehstueck in der Knuipe.
Ich komme auch nur ganz kurz vorbei, weil heute wieder Stammtischessen mit meinen Damen ist. Hier ist die Auswahl sehr verlockend, aber ich nehme nur den kleinen Imbiss mit dem Sandwich, sonst habe ich nachher keinen grossen Hunger mehr.
Annemarie, der Witz mit dem Luftballon ist suess - terötötö!

Heute kam ich ein wenig verspaetet in die Knuipe. Ach, das war eine Freude, meine tierischen Kollegen bereits beim fleissigen Ausfuehren ihrer ehrenamtlichen Arbeit zu sehen:
Raspi hatte schon Herkules gekocht und den Samowar fuer unseren Tee klargemacht sowie Croissants auf die Tische platziert. Ludwig war aktiv am Testen der vegetarischen Essens-Komponenten und Wolodja und Raspi nahmen sich den Rest der Speisen gruendlich vor. Dabei lachten sie froehlich ueber Raspis Witzchen: "Kommt ein Luftballon zum Psychiater und meint, er habe Platzangst." - Auch ich musste schmunzeln.
Bei einem ausgedehnten Personal-Fruehstueck berichtete ich den Jungs, dass ich zurzeit Zeit das aktuelle Buch von der amerikanischen Ex-First Lady Michelle Obama lese (ich glaube, Yeo las es auch gerade). Da ich das ueber 500 Seiten dicke Buch bei der hiesigen Stadtbibliothek ausgeliehen habe, muss ich mich mit dem Lesen beeilen. Es hat leider nur eine kurze Ausleihfrist, weil es sehr beliebt und als "Bestseller" eingestuft ist. Meinen Kollegen berichtete ich, dass die Familie Obama zwei portugiesische Wasserhunde haben und zeigte ihnen dann im Kaminzimmer an unserem Labtop ein Foto der Hunderasse. Wir sahen einen mittelgrossen und massiven Hund, der uns allen sehr gefiel.
Nachdem wir dann noch einen kurzen Besuch bei Onkel Sergej einlegten, ging es dann leider wieder viel zu schnell heimaerts. Aber alle freuen sich schon auf den naechsten QC-Einsatz, das ist doch auch was.

I'm here for a cocktail. How about a "Washington Apple"? Its ingredients are 1 oz. each: Canadian whisky, sour apple schnapps and cranberry juice garnished with an apple slice. The whisky and schnapps should help my recovery and the apple should keep the doctor away.
