Die Knuipe

March - the month giving us mixed feelings

Dear friends! March has become a month of night mares but it also offers some happy moments. We're sad thinking of the loss of two lovely polar bears - Knut and Fritz. However, at the same time we can also be happy about the baby bears that have now come out with their mothers in many zoos. We just have to learn to walk hand in hand with our sadness and our happiness!

Ludmila - Good luck with taking off the ticks! Hopefully even Minka will give her permission to the treatment.

Bärgit - Welcome back from the 'brooming'! :D

Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Stockholm tut weh.
My heart goes out to the lives lost and the many injured people and their family and friends.

Mervi - The 'brooming' did the job.
And the clearing of the place has almost been done - except for the lights and the telephone equipment the removal guys seem to have 'forgotten'. Oh bear :D

Ralph - I just gathered you are already on the road to Bärlin.
Will you be heading south to Vera, Charlotte and the Munich Polar Family?

Alle - Excuse me for not being up-to-date. But a lot had to be done lately that Rasband I had shunned to do for almost 10 years! Well, procrastinating things doesn't make them easier, after all. Well, we survived and now I find the leisure of popping into Knuipe on a regular basis again.

Have a great Saturday night and Sunday!

Our Knuipe is a cozy place. On the other hand we always share here our thought and sorrows. It is nice to laugh about the funny things, but sometimes the bad things happen and we cannot laugh.
I hope you had a good day in Berlin
We worked today in the garden.
We bought yesterday a small peach tree. I am curious whether we will get the peaches someday :)
Our cats have the ticks again. As always I managed to get the drops to the 4 cats, Minka runs away if she sees me :)
I am sending the best wishes to you
Ich denke Lili hat wenig Milch getrunken. Deswegen haben sich bei Valeska die Paarungshormone entwickelt.

Britta-Gudrun - Thanks for the link. I'll read Ulli's article later - she usually has very good information about our white fluffy friends.

Filomena - It's always great to hear the Knuipe is considered as a warm, cosy place. That was the intention from the beginning.

Patricia - I think we are all well aware of the cruel, violent world so we really need a place where we can forget it at least for a moment. One could claim that our animal friends are our therapists! For me reading happy news and seeing adorable photos from the bear world is pure therapy! Of course, even other animals have the same effect on me.

Knuti-Judi - I'm glad to hear you have mercy with the dust bunnies! I certainly have!! :D

Good afternoon Dear All, from a sunny Leuven.
It appears that we are living in a crazy dangerous world. And even though I am scared of the recent developments, I know that we all have to hope for the best and to do our best. I agree with Dumba: we must continue to return to our ?normal? life.
During the last years, I often have been thinking about the meaning of The Knuipe and KWM in my life and I always come to the same conclusion: although I know that it is a virtual world that was created to give us a cosy place to relax, it is a place that I need to come to even if I am not writing so much any longer as in the past. It was created to accommodate the needs of our eternal inner child. But nevertheless, we all are intelligent adults knowing what is happening around us and with whom nobody can mess around. We can come here to The Knuipe to tell about a billion items and to share our love for animals, but we are not blind for what is happening in the real world.
Sometimes we agree, sometimes we disagree, but that never created a discord for our small community here.
Let us continue like this.

Liebe Mervi,

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Dear fluffy angel - let's hope today will be a day of only good news! We can always hope!

Ralph - I guess you're sitting in a plane when I'm writing this. I wish you the best possible time in Berlin. Maybe you will soon meet Dumba, too! - Just like human children polar bear cubs are individuals that develope and grow in their own way. We know that for example Wilbär and Rasputin were separated from their mothers very early but they were 'ready' for the separation. I'm sure that's the case with Lili, too.

Dumba - As you know I'm always hungry so the pizza is more than welcome! :D - I agree that we must keep this blog a 'sunny place' but sometimes the news just make me both sad and furious. I must admit there are days when I try to avoid watching news on TV or the papers - except news from our bear world. However, there are also days when I have to let some steam out - but when it's done - I go on with the 'original concept' of this blog. :D

Knuti-Judi - Thank you for your kind words!

Today we deserve lots of cuteness and that's exactly what we get when we take a look at Anita's latest report from Hellabrunn - in KWM! I wish everybody a very pleasant Saturday!

It's difficult to return to our 'normal' little traditions, anyway I dare to it
otherwise we have to stop blogs like this that were created to mainly
share positive 'things' and at times to also support one another in times
of common but also individual sorrow and pain.

May be, nobody is really in the mood today for a 'real' breakfast.
That's why I bring you just a little pizza in order you don't have to
cook after your weekend grocery shopping and a bit of dust bunny hunting:

In my opinion it's right to give any comfort possible - at least in mind and signs -
to innocent people that are hit (directly and/or indirectly)
by assaults of whatsoever kind BUT concerning official demonstration
one has to be careful not to give a platform exactly to those we DON't want
to support: the dangerous offenders themselves a n d (probably even worse)
even more stupid 'copycats' (TRITTBRETTFAHRER) who feel invited to get
possibly 'heroes' by slaughtering huimans and/or animals in one or another way
just to get personal attention or attention for their 'Sache'.
That's why I take it to be RIGHT, NOT to continue to show the huge signs
of condolence/empathy by projecting the flags of countries which where attacked
illuminated e.g. on 'Brandenburger Tor' or 'TourEiffel' or other well known places etc.
I am very sorry for all the victims but we have to keep also unintentional side effects in mind.

Have an as good day as possible, DEARs ALL/e

Good morning from Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport
I have already been reading about Lili and Valeska being
separated. I am not surprised in a way as Lili has been a
fast learner and I think Valeska's instinct is telling her that
it is time for the little one to make it on her on. I know that
this seems harsh, but if you look at how confident Lili has
become and how laid back Lale was once she got to Emmen...

I send waves of sympathy to Sweden. In London, the Romanian
tourist whose partner wanted to propose to her has died. It is
too awful.
The bear hunting story is mad. I do not understand the love of hunting
where it is no longer necessary for food or protection...
If hunters have to hunt something couldnt they become rat catchers or
cockroach nappers..

Dear friends! The world has become an awful place and we can only blame the greedy people wanting more and more money and power, I can never understand why people elect leaders that are totally incompetent and in many cases even clearly mentally instabled! Make my country look great again - what bullshit! That 'creature' meant make me look great!

Dear All, I must confess that I am getting very scared when I read my newspapers. All the sad news and all the sad news and all the stupid decisions made by the leaders of this world, elected by whoever and wherever. Since I was about 20years old, I have always wished to live in a safe and peaceful place, but nowadays, I am no longer sure whether this wish will survive.

Oh Mervi, how awfull what has happened to-day in Stockholm. So sorry to hear and read about it. Unbelievable.

And I share your disgust about the permission to hunt and shoot as described in Alaska. I have read and seen a lot about in News letters from USA.

Lots of greetings to you all from Copenhagen

Chris - Sweden and Germany are the most generous countries in Europe welcoming refugees and now both countries have been attacked. Who can we trust in these days .... The world has definitely gone mad! And the 45 in the White House is doing his best to start the 3rd world war. Politics shouldn't be an issue here but there are moments when we just can't be silent!

I also want to express my disgust for the 45's signing a permission to hunt and shoot even hibernating bears - with their cubs in Alaska. It's so outrageous that I can't find words strong enough ....
