March - the month giving us mixed feelings

Posted by Mervi on March 14, 2017 at 10:30 AM

Collage by Mervi, Original Knut and Fritz by Monika aus Berlin and Tierpark Berlin

Dear friends! March has become a month of night mares but it also offers some happy moments. We're sad thinking of the loss of two lovely polar bears - Knut and Fritz. However, at the same time we can also be happy about the baby bears that have now come out with their mothers in many zoos. We just have to learn to walk hand in hand with our sadness and our happiness!

Mervi - Der Fortschritt ist eine Schnecke.
Good things take a little longer. I'm afraid the little will be quite big until the place looks like I want it to :D

Ludmila - Schöne Funde hast du heimgebracht.
My top favorite is the blue egg with the lovely white giant on it.
Opposite the castle there is the Lessinghaus. Red Baron once spent some time in the front garden while we paid Mr Lessing a visit. The lady from the box office joined RB for some smalltalk / barky conversation :D
I have best memories of your hometown.

Our English friend and Monika look great and so do Kati and slender Wolodja.

Ludmila - What cute Easter eggs and a funny cat, too! Let's have a drink - maybe Uncle Sergej's 'Easter Excitement'. I guess we have to be careful with that drink .... :D

Teddybärenmutti - Your new bed must be very good since the teddies like it! :D

Inge - I'm a little envious after reading about your meeting with the Tasmanian devil babies. - Let's hope Nöel will accept Nord when they meet. She seems to enjoy her bachelorette life. :D

Bärgit - You must be glad admiring the results of your work - a new nice room!

Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Palm Sunday greetings to you, dear Alle!

Mervi - The broom had a day of rest today but the broom operator was busy with plants and her former 'Arbeitszimmer'. Slowly but continuously its getting transformed into a nice room :D

Britta-Gudrun - Danke für die besondere Begrüßung!
Dir gute Besserung.

Patricia - I don't know how I would have reacted when one of our neighbours had acted so silly.
Yes, to the moon, one-way. We say zum Mond ohne Rückfahrkarte.

All the best for the new week to you all.

Wonderful weather here to-day.

Mervi, I had seen the pictures from Stockholm to-day. Very touching. Oh, what a world.

It was interesting to visit the tasmanian animals. The Wombats were adorable. We were 6 visitors and we had a wonderful time behind the normal enclosures. And also the devils had their charm. And the small ones a very nice fur - so nice to touch. The keeper was really good in handling the animals, and he really did like them. Later he shall also work with the great Pandas (but first they must come).

Nöel was out charming the zooguests. And she enjoyed ist. She more or less performed in the water tunnel. Unfortunately Nord was not to be seen. Better luck next time.

And now food for the everstarving.

Lieber fluffiger Engel!

Dave - Thank´s for birthday greetings.

Dumba - Danke fuer Fotos.

Dumba - Thank you for the quick delivery of greetings from the zoo. I already walked with you during the very green zoo and met many good friends there - both four- and two legged. :D The photo of the Defassa buck and the giraffe is a real heart melter but I enjoyed all the photos! - Of course, I would love to have a report in KWM but, please, don't put any pressure on you!

Britta-Gudrun - I don't know exactly what the COPD-Selbsthilfegruppe is but I hope it can make you feel better. Take care!

Filomena - I hope you've had a sunny day with the cats.

Knuti-Judi - Happy gardening!

Patricia - It's really annoying - to put it mildly - that your neighbour throws the dead branches in your garden - and on your young plants. I hope - well, I know - you will give him/her a piece of your mind!

Dave - I hope the sun will appear in your sky! :D

Good Morning.

Belated birthday greetings to Patricia and TBM.

This morning I am watching coverage of ceremonies at Vimy Ridge in France. It is the 100th anniversary of the WWI battle were all 4 Canadian divisions fought together as a unit for the first time. It was an historic moment in Canada's history.

The weather has been all over the scale this week with over 40mm of rain and even snow, but today it is supposed to be sunny and 14C. So far it is grey and 5C. We shall see.

I hope everyone has a nice relaxing Sunday.

Good afternoon, Dear All, from a lovely Spring day in Leuven: sunny, blue skin and warm. I am adoring it and so do the cats.
Today, I followed my good old Sunday tradition and did the ironing. And then, it was time for some works in the garden. I almost got a heart attack when I noticed that our so-called dear neighbour threw dead branches in our garden (and on top of my young fruit plants).
Neighbours: sometimes you can shoot them to the moon, no?
The video and pics of little Balou are sooo cute. He is really a funny petietje. And I love the way how he is always running beneath mommy?s belly.
Ludmila, good luck with the peach tree. Years ago, my mother and my eldest sister tried it and although, there were no peaches during the first year, it really did not take ?centuries? before they could harvest the fruit. Once a peach tree is having a good place, one can already have some during the second year and then thereafter, it becomes more and more. And both were having a white peach tree (the ones I love the most).

DEARs ALLe

Hope you had a nicely laid breakfast table with yummy things and
beverages in real life today!
Instead, I am presenting today a little treat from ZOO BERLIN.
A short report will follow later (sorry, dear MERVI I cannot do it
immediately) but as anybody obviously is eager to get news
from the ZOO BERLIN and our 'special guest' (see 1st pic already -
more will follow later - perhaps with a little KWM-report!? - date? ;) ).

In any case I can tell you already that we - that's four of us -
had a real pleasant time together yesterday with even very accepatable
to even beautiful weather (what a surprise! - Today it's again summer-like!).
So, there is near to guaranteed that RALPH is no more as sad as he seemed
to be before his departure from Great Britain! :) . . . Isn't that good!?

Here we are:
https://goo.gl/photos/MG5JGQMHdZ8Rf2VA9

BALOU for sure is simply 'awwwww'. There are lots of pics
but only appr. two where one see him clearly. For me an
additional joy was to be able to witness two very nice
scenes:
1 Defassa buck youngster cuddling with a giraffe (oh so lovely!!!)
2 WOLODJA did get a salmon(?) snack - and when he was looking forward
to it and when he was munching it - even at KNUT's edge - not only myself
remembered so well former times - and there were even lots of real resemblances!

Wishing you a HAPPY SUNDAY!

PS:
MONIKA(Berlin) did send me a video from the sloth bears
already yesterday in the evening. Unfortunately I was not
able to get it to run and I didn't find it in youtube direct . . .
Perhaps you are more intelligent than I am!? ;) . . .

Chris, hoffentlich klappt dein PC bald wieder.

Baergit, schoen dass du wieder da bist. Es wurde hier naemlich ziemlich still - leider.

Ich wuensche euch allen einen schoenen Sonntag.

PS.

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Dear fluffy angel - it seems I'm the earliest bird here today and I'm not so early either! Well, it's Sunday and everybody needs their beauty sleeps. :D

Dumba - The video of Balou's first outing was the perfect day opening for me. It was great to meet even Marcus Röbke. I'm sure preparing surprises for his bears is one of his favourite tasks in his job. - I hope you'll be able to meet Ralph in the zoo. Maybe we'll have a short 'report' here in the evening ...

Bärgit - I wish your broom happy 'senior broon days'! :D

Inge - Did you see Nord yesterday?

We have admired photos of Venus and Nalle but today we can admire other sweet animals in Ranua in KWM. I wish everybody a very pleasant Sunday!

Mervi - Danke!
The broom's days are counted. It's almost bold and asked me to retire it after enjoying the cherry and apple blossoms :D

Teddybärenmutti & Patricia - Euch beiden 'Geburtstagsschwestern' nachrtäglich ein gutes glückliches neues Lebensjahr!

Christine - I'm so sorry you had to say good-bye to your beloved Nadja.
She was a very special friend and companion to you and Mistaya.
Your tribute is heart-warming.
Thank you for sharing it.
