Chris - I've been admiring the sweet okapi baby in Copenhagen and now there's one even in Basel. Aren't these striped kids just adorable!!

Teddybärenmutti - I hope you can take a break in December and come to Berlin. I'm sure it would be 'balm to your soul'.

Dumba - I hope it won't be raining tomorrow when I'm going for a walk with you in the CCC! :D

Ludmila - Having only two cats makes things a lot easier - one queen and one king. Of course, the big question about who's the real boss is still somewhat unsolved. :D

We have Sydney, she thinks, she is a queen. Minka feels as a queen too. Muffin is a princess :)
Ferdi is a big young male, he feels as a king. Wasja is young and he gets big too. he wants to be a king. :) At the end Uwe is the Chef, I am a female Chef :)
I think you are a Chef at your home too.
It is cozy ar the fire place. Uncle Sergej mix the new drinks

'Gockel' works again, therefore:
CCC-October-potpourri. Now 203 pics included -
the last ones show doggies and autumn impressions
May be they will work as a 'Betthupferl' for you. Enjoy!

PATRICIA ROBERTS - Thank you very much for the report about
your home-cats and also for your thoughts concerning zoo-babies,
especially polar bear cubs.

SARSAM - Since several days we have most ugly weather in the CCC.
So, you are very happy with 'summerlike' weather!
This morning started with heavy rain and dark grey but in the late
afternoon one could see small spots of blue in the sky once in a while,
and even though the streets were still wet, there was kind of a nice
autumn atmosphere around and I went again out to take some pics.
My intention was to work on them immediately and to show the
October-potpourri including the second third of the month . . .
Unfortunately 'Google pictures' is down OR there is something wrong
with my pics at Google (hopefully NOT!!).

Have a nice evening EVERYONE

Lieber fluffiger Engel!

Britta-Gudrun - I understand that problems with breathing are more serious than carrying heavy bags.

Ludmila - Let's hope Ferdi and Wasja can soon decide who's the boss - maybe both? :D

Patricia - It's very interesting to observe how our cats behave in different situations. They all have their own ways and their own personality (or should I say catsonality?) :D - I always fall headlessly in love with all the polar bear cubs and although I know they must leave at a certain age it always hurts to see them leave. Ranzo is now in Vienna and we very seldom hear of him nowadays. Now Fiete is going to Hungary .... Let's hope that Hope will come 'closer to us'. Of course, I know the main thing is that our sweeties come to good zoos with loving keepers.

Dumba - Thank you for the panda information!

It was not not easy to come in today, but I managed.

We had stormy weather, very grey, many leaves came down.
I wonder where the golden October is - ein Reinfal dies Jahr...

MERVI and all - its a shame, that the living conditions for Orangs
are more and more worst in Borneo, because of the oilplantages.
I am glad, that they have this center for little Orangs, but the
future for animals in the shrinking woods will be very difficult.

It is always something new with the cats. Your Beau is a young male now. Cookie noticed this :)
I wish you success with Cookie. It is not easy to catch a cat. Minka lives since many years with us, but we have always the problems to get her in the basket for the visit at vet.

Good afternoon, Dear All, from a very rainy, chilly and grey Leuven.
Today, I cleaned a lot in the kitchen and I am still way behind all articles in KWM, but at least tried to get a bit updated here in The Knuipe. And knowing that Ralph has written so many lovely reports on which I did not yet comment, makes me feel guilty. But on the other hand, I can go back to the archives to retrieve these articles. And if it turns out that I am too ?blond? for that, I can ask Mervi to give me a helping hand, isn?t it.
With regard to the reaction of cats to strangers arriving in the house: well, at this moment, when the doorbell rings, all my cats are disappearing immediately just like yours, except for Héloise and Crocodile (however, she is definitely completely deaf now). But Angelface and Poppie never ran away. When somebody came (known or unknown, they just wanted to see who entered my house. Sometimes, they were welcoming these visitors, in most cases, Poppie just ignored them.
Sarsam, I hope from the bottom of my heart that everything is OK with Chloë, but in the event that she is having thyroid problems, it seems that giving her a daily pill is helping.
Tja, Ludmila, with cats, nobody can say who is the boss, sometimes it is this one and the other day it may be another one. I have seen it here in my house with CookieMonster. When he arrived, he was terrorizing all my other cats, especially Beau and Gust. As soon as Beau noticed that Cookie was around, he came to me for shelter. But hey, now, when Cookie is entering the house, the first one to hiss in his ears is Beau (no longer a baby) and Cookie has definitely given up the plan to attack Baby Beau. With respect to Gust, it is just a funny situation: when the weather is sunny, they both lay on the roof enjoying the sun and then having a distance of about 2 meters (or even less), but when they entered the kitchen, it is another affair! Na ja, also tha tis becoming better, especially when knowing that Gust is almost the double of Cookie. Good news with regard to Cookie is that he already stayed inside the house during the night (we have had already a few very chilly nights) and he did NOT pee or poo (and according to me, that is a good sign to take him inside as soon as possible). So far, he is not neutered yet because he is still refusing to take food out of my hand. And as long as he is refusing that, you will understand that I cannot grab him for his sedation (remember the cat bite in 2012!).
I have read your comments with regard to loving zoo animals and I must say that I am becoming scared of loving the young ones. Opposite to our pets for which we made a place in our life and for which we are able to care till their last moment, little ?zoo-borns? are adorable but out of our reach. The last one for which I have opened my heart was Hope, little daughter to Flocke and Raspi and I appreciate ach and any news about her. But when these cuties are born, whether we like them or not, we realize that sooner or later they will have to move to another place and then, the only thing we can do is hoping that it will be a good place.
I also read a few weeks ago that maybe (very maybe) Pizza in that Chinese mall would be moving to Doncaster and I hope and pray that it will become true.
Chris, you know that every day, I am checking Zooborns/ And yes, also from Zoo Antwerp, I received the news of the little tapir. I only hope that his future is better and longer than the only of little Qabira (who died at the age of only 4 months). The videos of baby gorilla in Bioparc are soo endearing. When one is seeing the care and the tenderness of the mother for her baby, it is just like with humans!
And the video of the baby Orang utan is reminding me more of Budi than Rieke. But nevertheless, such babies are very precious. I wish them all good luck.

Hello friends at coffee time!
I hope your lift will work again very soon
Hast Du schon Hotel in Berlin gebucht?
Happy Hump Day to you!
Yesterday in the evening I saw a hedgehog at eating. The cats were outside. Muffin did not see a hedgehog and jumped on it. Muffin run away, a hedgehog started to growl very loud. :)

Guten Tag,

Sarsam, good luck to Chloe!

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Dear fluffy angel - another shopping tour is done and my arms must be at least half a meter longer now after carrying the bags ..... :D

Inge - I like happy endings, too, so whenever it's possible I try to find out how a movie ends. :D

Sarsam - I wish Chloe all the best and hope the test results will be as good as possible.

Chris - The first school day is always a challenge so no wonder the baby orang wasn't feeling very comfortable. I'm sure the next days will be better when she learns to know her friends.

Ludmila - I'm glad to hear Ferdi's wound has healed! Let's hope Wasja will learn to eat from his own bowl. Nalle and Mimmi get exactly the same food but still it seems to taste better in the other bowl. The grass is always greener on the other side. :D

In KWM you'll find Monika aus Berlin's report from the zoo with great photos and also some news. I wish everybody a very happy Hump Day!

Good morning! Guten Morgen!
I am sending the best wishes to Chloe. Minka will ring with her today. Our cats are all active.Sydney runs in the garden too. I think it is very good for her. Ferdi's wound is away. He and Wasja are not the friends. Wasja is a rascal. He cannot let Ferdi to eat in peace. Wasja wants to sit next to Ferdi and try to eat from the same bowl. Mostly I bring Wasja in the other room and close a door :)
The orang babies are cute
Herkules is ready. In the moment we have the sun shine
