Die Knuipe

Moving bears and elusive butterflies

Dear friends! Again so much is happening in our wonderful world of animals. Ranzo is now living in Vienna and hopefully he will soon have a wonderful time with Lynn. Yoghi didn't look so happy in the latest photos but let's hope even our Prince Charming will be a happy, charming bear again. While we're following our bears we can see the birds, bees and butterflies flying around telling us the Summer is around the corner. Goodbye Michelin outfits!! 8)

CAREN
But your pic from last night is perfect! :)

Yesterday there was an article in MailOnline
about the surgery of the bear in Israel.
I wanted to post it - but forgot it....

I just read in the paper that there is a 19-year-old Syrian brown bear in the Ramat Gran Safari Park in Israel which suffered from a herniated disc. In order to enable him to walk again through his enclosure without pain, the experts in Tel Aviv decided for a surgery, which is a "premiere".
Let us keep our paws crossed for Mango, that the surgery was successful!

Chris - I detected our DayMoon right now, too. I am out ...

Hello, Dear Alle!

Mervi - Thank you for the new thread!

Just got back from walking my cheerful puller and relaxed in Ranua and Prague.
Thank you for bringing all the good places to us.

Today, the thick layer of clouds does not allow any moonpics.

Chris - "Please mind my claws" That's what the cute bear is going to tell us :)

Mervi - I guess that on the day of inauguration the secrets of the new pb enclosure will be revealed first :) -- I saw that the little bear is already a great gardener :)

Dumba - I knew the Hotel Zoo would not be exactly the same - at least the prices will be different. :D However, when we book flight + hotel via Expedia the hotel price is always a little lower....

Knuti-Judi - Isn't a perfect weather a perfect prize!? :D

Caren - The little baby bear not only does her best to forget the sad aspects - she's also a great consolation to us. What a sweetie!

Chris - The video was made a week after our visit but what you see in it is what we saw 'live'. Wonderful and fantastic! :D

I've been trying to find something new about Ranzo but maybe the Vienna zoo wants to wait until the grand opening of the Franz-Josef Land on the 23rd of May. - The wawing weekend bear is adorable! :D

Good Afternoon, Dear Alle and Welcome Weekend!

Dumba - I will immediately reserve one of the rooms in Hotel Berlin ZOO without knowing the prize to make it a surprise hotel stay. They fireplace is very promising, as in December it is mighty cold in the CCC :D :D :D

Knuti-Judi - you are a realy Knuipe Olympic as you won all the three top prizes :)

Annemarie - I do not know what to write but please know that I am in deep sorrow for you!
It cannot be right to consider your duties as more important than your health. Nobody will give you a cent, a prize or a THANK YOU when your health is completely deteriorated. Please take care !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris - we do have typical April weather today. Cold, warm, sunny, rainy, now clouds as thick as a hidden place for the moon.

Mervi - I do not know how often I have already watched your baby bear pics and the video, it is so delightful on the one hand but also sad on the other, because the little cutie was abandonned by its mother and all this is also overshadowed by Jehu's tragedy. It seems that the little bear does everything to forget the sad aspects of the story.

MERVI - TBM - KNUDY - CAREN

The photo of "HOTEL ZOO" you can see in below link is in the not yet renovated state!
I just had a telcon 'on your behalf' with the phone number given in their homepage,
and did get the following information:
- hotel will still only be opened November 1st, 2014
- as you already did conjecture it then will be a FIVE STAR HOTEL
- consisting of 7 categories
- lowest category is EURO 150.-- for the room (irrespective whether 1 or 2 persons)
- highest category, price unknown is 105 square-meter, 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, with fireplace
- Hotel is designed by a female designer from LOS ANGELES ! !

Na, denn bucht ma schoen! ;)

RALPH - May be, you did mean this - See picture 2 = "Capital Beach am SpreeUfer":
http://tinyurl.com/CapitalBeach-amSpreeUfer
I believe this bar is still there!
Most possibly it was only not visible from my points of view
at the opposite side of the Spree (side of main station itself!),
and in addition it was not yet warm enough for deck chairs on the lawn . . .

ANNEMARIE - Take good care of yourself, PLEASE!

Dumba

Thank you for coming back. Sorry I was not explaining too well.

What I remembered was actually down on the banks of the Spree opposite the Hauptbahnhof they had a row of temporary snack places bars and cafes where you could sit overlooking the river and of course the Hauptbahnhof itself. In your photos I noticed they had all been tidied away and there are now only benches for people to sit. 2011 is a long time ago so I imagine the owners have set up on other parts of the Spreeufer.

Thanks for the various links which I shall add to my Berlin collection. I have a lot to do trying to save links on the Knuipe, but I suspect that my not get done as I still focus on the main Polar Bear sites (and then only things that are easy to download)

Semper Knut!
