Willkommen! Bienvenue! Welcome!

Happy Birthday, Caren!

  22.5.2010

Dear Auntie Caren,

We know that most of all you wished to visit us in Antibes on your special day but we're sure you will have a wonderful birthday anyway. Besides - you'll meet us very soon. We want to thank you for all the fantastic reports and photos of us when we lived in Nuremberg. You always managed to show the best sides of us. Well, that's not so difficult, hehee...we only have best sides....

We're looking forward to meeting you again!

Yours Flocke & Raspi

Dear Auntie Caren,

It's a great honour for me and Gianna to wish you a happy birthday. We are trying to do our best to deliver the cake to you but of course, it's a very risky mission - the cakes usually just vanish. That really is a great mystery!

We wish you the best birthday ever and hope to see you in Bärlin soon!

Your humble servants, Herr Ober and Gianna

Special Birthday wishes from the Leuven Gang – written by Babbelute:

Dear Auntie Caren (hope I may also call you Auntie, like, Raspi, Flocke, Knuti, Gianna and Yoghi, although I am not white, but rather black with a little white here and there), my mommy has already told a lot about you and showed us your pics of the big white fluffies and is reading your reports when we are in our bed and cannot get asleep. No no, don’t get me misunderstood: we do not fall asleep because your stories are boring, but because we all want also to be there where the white fluffies are and what better way can a cat find than the dream???

Mommy once told us that she was having her first close encounter with you in Flocke’s blog, where you were searching for little baby bears on a video. And then you also came to The Knuipe and there, of course, the babbles became "endless". You brightened up her days by bringing new stories of all your "dikke vriendjes". But apparently, it seems that you do not like one of the nicknames of Giovanna, namely "dralle Dirn", although mommy always has to giggle when she is saying these words. Ah well, according to me, there is even some music in these words, isn’t it. When she finally met you there in that very far away place, called "Bearlin" or so, she told us that she heard there the one of the best stories of her life: your daddy calling your first four-wheel machine a "rucksack". While we did not get the picture immediately, she demonstrated what that could be and believe me, we all were rolling over the floor with laughter. Funny sight: mommy with a rucksack and running around in the house while saying BRUMBRUM TUUTTUUT!!

She also told me that while wishing you all the best for your birthday, I may not ask for the number of Springs you have now reached. But on the other hand, one thing makes me seriously curious: what do you like the most : beef, poultry or tuna fish?

Big meows from us all.

Angelface, Dikkie-Dik, Pierewiet, Flurk, Poppie, Héloise, Luna, Crocodile, Fleur, Rapunzel, Sloeber, Baloo, Witje, Kapoentje and me.

Liebe Caren,

meinen herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Deinem Geburtstag. Lass Dich heute so richtig feiern.

Alles Liebe, Bea

From Celinne:

We dedicate this poem to our beloved Auntie Caren from all your bears: Raspi, Knut, Anton, Willy, Manasse, Felix, Wilbar, Lars, Elvis, Jurgen, Flocke, Gianna, Corinna, Vera, Tosca Nancy, Kathy, Ewa, Sutra, Mercedes and Widow Jerka.

Happy Birthday to you Auntie Caren and may you have many, many more years to grace this world with your sweetness, beauty and kindness.

I wonder if she knew

Did she know I thought about her when I woke up each morning, as I drifted to sleep each night, and most of the time in between; and that even when I was not consciously thinking about her, I continually sensed the presence of her love within me?

Did she know I used to sit and look at her as she slept, studying the tranquil beauty on her angel's face; and that I said little prayers over her asking that sweet serenity would always grace her countenance?

Did she know I admired the way she cared for her family, friends, and anyone in need, and accepted everyone without judgement or criticism; and that she was my role model for how to treat people?

Did she know she went to places in my heart and mind where no one had ever gone before; and that I exposed the totality of my self - - the good, the bad, and the ugly - - because I had such complete and utter trust in her love for me?

Did she know she was the best friend I ever had, and the bond between us had a depth and breadth that could not be severed by anything less than a mutual decision based on true love at it's most unselfish?

Did she know I loved her profoundly and unconditionally, not just for her loveliness or intelligence (all of which I adored), but more for the grace and goodness that defined her essence to me; and that I marveled at how animals, children, and adults (young and old) were drawn to her gentle warmth like flowers to the morning sun?

Did she know I thanked God daily for intersecting the winding roads of our lives so that my life might be forever changed by the touch of her spirit; and that I believed He sent her as an angel to love me, lift me, and lead me to a better place emotionally and spiritually?

And I wonder if she knows that I love her still and that it helps me, when I contemplate the harshness of life in this unyielding world, to remember that out there somewhere is a rare and precious soul - - and she, Auntie Caren... loved me.

Dear Caren!

Today is your birthday and we want to wish you the best possible day. We will also thank you so much for making our Knuti's Weekly such an eminent magazine. Your exclusive reports from Nuremberg, Munich and other zoos are really something else!! We are looking forward to meeting you again soon - maybe in September?

Raspi wanted to sing for you himself but unfortunately he has a 'sour throat' today so he hired The Temptations to serenade you instead:

Bear hugs to our dear birthday child from Mervi, Vesa, Mimmi and Nalle

Happy Birthday, Caren!

 May 2009

Dear Caren,

I'm sorry I don't know the exact date of your birthday but here are the birthday wishes anyway. As you can see Fräulein Flocke have chosen the presents - especially the wrappings. There was a pink cake, too, but when Flocke went away to get her handbag Raspi and I made a little controll and somehow the cake vanished. I think the bakeries are using very strange recipees when they bake their cakes!! That's what we tried to tell Flocke but can you imagine - she didn't believe us! I think that's outrageous....

However, we still have the candles and you're supposed to blow them out and make a wish.

Now we're going to sing you Happy Birthday in our special way. Today we call us The Fluffy Birthday Singers. Flocke is still angry with Raspi and me and calls us The Stupid Cake Eaters but we don't care.

We hope you had a wonderful birthday in Spain and now we shall one in the Knuipe as well. Welcome back, Caren!

Your humble servants the Waiter, Fräulein Flocke, Zar Raspi and, of course, all our friend throughout the world
