Dear friends! The Spring is turning into Summer. Our Knugarden looks very inviting so I welocme you all for a drink and/or a snack by the pool. Maybe I should announce a little warning - there's a chance you'll get very wet if Uncle Sergej and Raspi decide to dive ..... :D

The upsets in the early stages of the World Cup are part of the fun. Mexico and Iran are supported by millions of fans in their own countries and it is good that they get something to cheer for.
Sending soft paws to Mimmi and Mervi.
It has been a while since I was in Doncaster now, but fortunately there are some great pictures on the Facebook Fans of Yorkshire Wildlife Park group.

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Dear fluffy angel - I was sure I would be the early bird today but I see there are earlier birds! :D

We have left Mimmi at the vet clinic. She will have her tooth surgery during the morning hours and we can get her home in the afternoon. Please, keep your fingers crossed for our sweetie.

Yeo - It seems to me you're having a wonderful time in England. You've already seen a lot and I'm sure Isle of Wight will be worth visiting, too. Thank you for the English breakfast - I love it! :D

Britta-Gudrun - I guess the media hasn't been too kind to the German players but the games have only started. Many of the favourite teams haven't succeeded as well as expected. Switzerland made things tough to Brazil .....

Chris - There have been many surprising results so far. I hope Jogi's Jungs can forget the game against Mexico and come with new energy when they meet Sweden and South Korea.

Ludmila - We can always hope for better games!

In KWM you'll find Anita's report from Hellabrunn. Now it's time for me to have breakfast so I wish everybody a good start of this week!

Good morning dear Knuipians!

Here ist the early bird. Today with a english breakfast: ham and eggs, sausages, Toast, Orangenmarmelade and a lot of tea.

@ Mervi
I will keep crossed my fingers for Mimmi!

I wish you all a pleasant Monday!

Ich sehe sie jeden Tag. :)

MERVI - ich erwarte nichts.
Lassen wir uns überraschen. ;)

Jetzt kannst Du Dich entspannen.
It is great that you met your Canadian relatives.
We cooked the rhubarb jam too :)
We can hope for the better next game.

Patricia - It's great you took time to write to us. I wish you and your Canandia guests a good time together!

Dave - The first game is often a 'tricky one'. Even Argentina and France - two of the favourites - were quite pale in their first performance.

Chris - I'm sure we'll see better play by the Germans during the games.

Teddybärenmutti - It must have been a relief that the drive went so well. Even though your passangers 'heard voices'. :D

Lieber fluffiger Engel!

OS_ Was hast du fuer heute Abend Vorbereitet`Rhabarber Coctail, vielleivht?

vergleichen. Die letzten Spiele waren
alle schlecht. Die jungen Millionäre
sind satt und faul geworden...

DAVE - we had the big heat the last
two weeks. Luckily now its bearable.

Mervi - I didn't see the game, but I heard that the German team looked "lethargic". In 2010 Spain became the only team to lose their first game and then go on to become World Cup Champions. You are right, the tournament isn't over yet, but they have a tougher road now.

Patricia - It is great that you got to meet your overseas cousins. My oldest brother is the only one to ever meet my father's mother when she visited Kitchener in the late 1950s. My mother has many cousins here in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and in Manitoba. Most came over in the early 1950s.

Good evening Dear All,

These last days were rather busy for me. Maybe I ever told about my family: my father was a Canadian soldier who met my mother during WOII. Shortly after the war, they got married and had their 10 children. Miriam, one of my sisters, visited Canada before and has always maintained the contact. And now, one of our Canadian cousins and his wife came to visit us and I promised Miriam to help her with this and that. They were staying at her house and so she needed some help for Christa, our youngest sister. It was the first time for me to meet them and they were both very nice people. Miriam as well as Ron wanted to restore the family tree of the Roberts family, which is not an easy exercise, due to a lot of unfortunate events.

Nevertheless, I am now very exhausted and need my bed.

Hmmm, the game isn't going as I was hoping .... but there are still 45 minutes to go!

Ludmila - Nalle has problems with his stomach so we have to take him, too, to the vet when Mimmi has had her surgery.

Dave - Oh yes, I saw Ovechkin celebrating and there was no doubt - he was the happiest man in the world. And after shaving his beard he looks 15 years younger, too. :D

Good Morning.

I hope everyone is well.

So far the weather in June has been nice. Today we are expecting 40C with humidity and possible thunderstorms later in the day. I have been able to avoid using the air conditioner, as the temperatures usually drop off at bedtime. I keep the windows closed during the day and the house seems to stay cool.

Yesterday some friends and I went to a vintage motorcycle show. We arrived at 9:30AM and you could feel the heat starting to rise. We had lunch on a patio overlooking the Grand River. What a great spot for just sitting and sipping an ice cold beer. I had a Cajun catfish wrap, which was delicious. I would have tried a burger, but I was BBQing a steak for dinner.

Today I am picking the rhubarb and then cooking it with strawberries. It is something my mom always made in the summer. Some light chores have been done and the laundry is hanging out on the clothesline. Soon I'll fire up the motorcycle and head out for a ride in the farm lands, where there is less traffic and the scenery is always filled with beautiful summer greens.

Mervi - Have you seen any photos and videos of Alex Ovechkin after winning the Stanley Cup? It is hilarious to see his antics and he is sharing the experience with everyday fans. He's like a little kid. It is actually nice to see how much he appreciates the moment. Best wishes with Mimmi.

Have a great Sunday.

Chris - Mimmi will have a surgery tomorrow. Luckily we could contact our vet already today. - Maybe the 'fever' will come when the game begins .... :D

Soon it's time for Germany vs Mexico! Let's wish Jogi's Jungs best of luck. Even Quintana is ready for the game! :D

It's difficult - the weather is very "diesig'. ;)
