Dear friends! Some of you have had more than your fair share of snow while many of us are still waiting for the white flakes to fall. Let's hope we can all have a touch of frost before the Spring is here!

Dear Mervi, hope resting will do you well. Lots of greetings and good wishes from here.

To-day was Germanlessonsdag and as always 2 good hours with a team with humor.

For the time being we have RAIN, and the everstarving are sleeping.

Speedy getting back all your energy and joy of life!

The mountain Brocken was used for observation and spying of the Sovjet army. The old houses are away now. The hotel is new. It looks very easy. On the top is an observation deck.

I am sitting in the hall of the Oxford Library but thanks to the magic of KWM I have been transported to the Harz and the Brocken with Ludmila and Uwe.
If you have not visited their thread, please do so. On the one hand there are the lovely scenes we all expect from our childhood fairy tales. But on the other hand there is the sinister group of buildings on the Brocken. They could be the headquarters of some James Bond villain. Fortunately the events of 1989 mean they are harmless relics of a dangerous time.
Ludmila and Uwe are such adventurers. They remind me of the characters in the Graphic Novels (Bande Dessinee) which are so popular in France and Belgium. The boy detective Tin Tin. In Holland there is a a lovely private detective called Franka.

Dear Mervi, ... I have 'doctor's orders' to rest ist ein gutes Rezept, also sei folgsam!

Christiania was/is still a good place ! :)
Especially the part around the lake. There
are nice little houses and cottages with
very interesting people. The part with the
barracks was a problem for some years.
But on the other hand, the City was happy,
to have these people not at the castle.
There were sometimes struggles, to close
Christiania, but in the end they resist all
efforts, to chase them away. :)

You are right, it was much saver
in the 70ties and 80ties, we slept
at the shore, or in the trains -
I never had problems ! :)

No, I never have seen this sign !

My timing was perfect today. As
I came out of the shop, the sun
appeared and so a little walk
was very pleasant! :)

And now its tea time!

Dear friends! I survived another little surgery but I sincerely hope there won't be more! I'm quite dizzy so I guess I'll be spending the afternoon more or less lying on the couch.

Chris - When we were young it was still possible to hitch hike quite safely. Nowadays I really don't recommend that kind of travelling for anybody! - Many people think Christiania was only a place for drug addicts but it was actually even a place for people with high education and good jobs who just wanted another kind of living.

Dumba - There's a 'national day of something' every day. For me each day is a cat & bear day. :D

Ludmila, Britta-Gudrun, Knuti-Judi - Thank you for your good wishes! Let's have a cup of Herkules now that even I can drink again - not too hot, not too cold but luckily wet. :D

Inge and Dumba have announced problems in the Knuipe. Have more of you seen this:

If you have - please, let me know. Does it appear when you're not signed in? Are you using your 'original' email adress while signing in? - I can't do anything about this myself but I can ask the gurus to take a look at it but not today - I have 'doctor's orders' to rest.

Guten Tag,

best wishes to Massachussets:

Don´t ask me, what race it is
I hope all things are o.k. in
your corner of the world !? :

Its grey here, but not cold and no wind.
I like the green colour of the meadow .
the gras is growing and the blackbirds
doing their job, digging worms. ;)
The Schneeglöckchen are blooming.

ANNEMARIE - viel Spaß in CCC Berlin ! :)

MERVI - I wish you good luck with the doctor.
As young girls people are mostly generous....
But if we are getting older, they don´t notice
us any longer - thats life. As a Youngster I´ve
made a big journey with Interrail ticket. Spain
France, Corsica, Italy Switzerland - and shure
it was a "must" to visit Christiania in Copenha-
gen. The people there were very friendly to us.
Thats 40 years ago now - how time runs... :D
I also visted Göteborg and the big lakes.

Deutsch interessierst. Es ist eine sehr
reiche Sprache, wenn man sie beherrscht,
was man leider von den meisten Deutschen
auch nicht behaupten kann. :p Der Nieder-
gang der sprachlichen Kompetenz in weiten
Teilen der Bevölkerung ist erschreckend!

LUDMILA - I´ll check your Harz report soon ! :)

Later I´ll drive to the Hofladen and then maybe
a little walk in the wood ( no storm today ). :)

Meine Tastatur spinnt heute, eventuelle
Tippfehler bitte gnädig übersehen! ;)

Good morning! Guten Morgen! Dear fluffy angel - I need you to hold my paw even today!

Annemarie - Have a good time in Bärlin! Please, forward my best greetings to Sherwin.

Ludmila - Your photos from Harz are fantastic! Needless to say I just love the snowy landscape.

Dumba - The husky is so beautiful! I'm sure Tommi will be delighted to meet a 'fellow doggie'. :D

Chris - When my cousin and I hitch hiked in Europe we took the ferry Finlandia from Helsinki to Travemünde and started our 'tour' there. I still remember how kind and generous German people were towards two young girls with not too much money. :D

Inge - I'm impressed by your energy. My 'German lessons' are watching German TV-series. Unfortunately there are not so many of them.

I have a 'complication' in my chin so another minor surgery is needed today. After that I'll - most probably - be a bit dizzy so I see you again later in the afternoon. I wish everybody a pleasant Tuesday!
