Hello Dear All, here in Leuven, I am enjoying the rain and so does the garden. Luckily, it is a gentle rain and the water can enter in the ground. It is amazing to see how the plants and even the grass are recovering from the drought. Slowly but surely, it is becoming green again.
I have a little video that has a story or the story has a video, however you like it. And her it is: on June 18, through my kitchen window, I saw Aura, one of the cats of my neighbours, ?playing? with something in the garden. My first idea was: a bug or a cricket or a leaf (their cats are not famous as hunters). But after an hour, I saw Orion, their tomcat, joining the game and then realized that maybe, it was a little mouse. So, I took my towel and went into the garden. And yes indeed, it was a little mouse. By that time, the small animal was knocked completely ?flagada? and could barely walk (kind of broken back or at least broken legs or so). Unfortunately, I am not able to kill an animal and therefore put it outside my front door under the pruning wood in the hope that it would recover before this pruning was picked up. Na ja, when I came back home, the community services did not come and little mousie was still there and not in good shape. So, hoping that none of my neighbours could see it, I put some food there (seeds and fruit). Saturday, ?la même histoire?. On Sunday, I had an appointment with a friend and when I lift the house, Piepie was still there. I became pretty desperate because I was having no clue on how to solve/help this little animal. And the pruning wood was still there. When I returned home, I was kind of released: no mousie anymore. And so, the time came that I had to put the garbage outside (and bear in mind, it was terribly hot that day in Leuven). But what happened???? When I opened my front door, guess who was sitting there in the middle of the doorstep: exactly, little piepie in the same sad condition. And then, I knew that I had to take some action. So, I close the door and almost jumped in my basement to grab a cardboard box, run upstairs, opened the door, grabbed piepie and put him/her in it. Gave him/her some seeds, fruit, nuts and water. Piepie showed good appetite and was very thirsty but the legs were a sad thing to see. After 4 days, I realized that maybe some more space would help and I discovered a bigger wooden box in my basement (you know, my basement is kind of a treasure room but I need to dig things up again). Piepie was apparently very pleased with this ?apartment? and continued thriving. The legs became stronger. On Sunday, June 25, the cats catched another even smaller piepie that I luckily could rescue and put in the same apartment. And then I agreed with Wahid that we would release them in the little park close to our street and that he would make a video of it. It goes without saying that this needed to happen without other neighbours. Becoming the woman with many cats is one thing, being the woman opening a mouse hospital is another one, isn?t it. On Tuesday, it was finally the day of their freedom. Rain was predicted so no neighbours were on the street and Wahid and I together with the two ?petietjes? went to ?het Pleintje?. However, Wahid was having a very serious question: what will happen if they are released and run to him???? I told him: son, then your life is history because they will eat you immediately. HMMMPFF, he was not feeling really comfortable at that moment. Men are soo brave, aren?t they!!!!!
Hope now that the video is working.

Chris - It looks like there will be a new generation's 'Manschaft'. Let's make a toast to the young players! - The weather situation in northern Germany is awful.
