Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.....

Dear friends! I think we continue with the snow theme - especially because some of us haven't seen any snow this Winter! There's no new story this week - OK, maybe there is. I just couldn't resist writing short captions to Anders Björklund's fantastic photos of Herr Wilbär...

Folks, haven't you noticed? We do have a wonderful new thread !!! :D

Crissi - the bears have fresh drinking water in their dens. And polar bears are usually not drinking they get all liquids needed from their food.

Ludmila - one cannot throw everything away which has belonged to our lives. I think it is good to keep such things we really like.

Susan - It's nearly midnight but your post made me sooooo hungry. - By the way, a casual dinner with friends in our place means a BYO (Bring Your Own) .D

Dumba - I checked the links and saw that bears in other zoos have problems with their fur, too. However, I still think that Berlin zoo should do something about the water quality. Of course, it would cost but aren't our three girls worth something..... I consider this zoo as my 'home zoo', that's why I take the liberty to be critical.

Once again I wish I was a multimillionaire and could use the money to help our fourlegged friends both in the zoos and in the wilderness... I guess I'm not alone with that wish!

Ralph - let us welcome your little newcomer :)

Dumba - that's what I meant. Thanks for searching.

Ludmila - ha ha ha, you also love your old car, which I can fully understand

Bärgit - we are living in a fastliving world. Most find themselves in a throw it away society, unfortunately !

Mervi - You are still here, I hope you relax here and not doing editing all the time ;)

Susan - Do you here my stomach calling for this delicious food??????????

Is anyone hungry?? Below are the descriptions for some of the cooking classes for which I signed up... yum!

Italian Vegetarian Cooking:
For centuries, Italian cooking has been closely associated with a vegetarian diet. Since meat is a luxury in southern Italy, cooking there has evolved without it and naturally lends itself to a vegetarian diet. The many varied influences on Italian cooking only add up to one thing: a simple, healthy cuisine based on natural ingredients and fresh produce. In this class we will explore the diverse meatless culinary specialties from a few of Italy?s regions. Crespelle Fiorentine (crepes filled with ricotta and spinach topped with a white sauce and baked) Butternut Squash and Leek Lasagna, Ricotta Manicotti with Spinach and Asparagus, Polenta and Wild Mushroom Sauce, and Eggplant, Bell Peppers and Mushroom over Pasta or Polenta.

Casual Dinner for Friends on a Winter's Night:
It?s a cold night and the aromas of a delicious dish braising in the oven fills the house with tantalizing aromas. What will you do? Invite a few friends in, pour a glass of wine and relax before dinner. What?s cooking? A Laurel Run favorite: Braised Short Rib Ragu over homemade Rosemary Pasta with Horseradish Cream Sauce. Learn to use the tougher but more flavorful cut of meat and braise it to buttery perfection for this richly-flavored meat sauce. Chef will make also make Roasted Red Pepper Bisque, Winter Greens Salad with a Balsamic Vinaigrette, and Chocolate Mousse Shooters for dessert. Class filled with valuable cooking techniques for all levels. You are welcome to bring wine.

The Cuisine of Puglia, Italy
The cuisine of Puglia comes from the land and sea, coming together in simple dishes of humble origins that stem from traditions thousands of years old. In this class we will feature some of the simple fare from my family?s region. Menu: Gamberio Scampi, just right for a light meal or a great antipasti, Matagliati with Cardoncelli Mushrooms (homemade pasta with mushrooms); Chick Pea Pasta with an Aubergine (eggplant) Caponata, Cheese and Mint; Pancotto, a type of soup with bread made by the local cooks, popular in winter with cabbage. A simple dessert, Pears in Primativo Wine delivers a delicious contrast between the sweetness of a pear in wine with salty cheese. Leave Ohio behind and ?travel by food? tonight! You are welcome to bring wine.

I've also signed up for a "dinner in one pan" class with one of my friends (she's coming with me to the "Cuisine of Puglia" class as well), and a class on how to cook seafood. My cousin is going to join me for the "Casual Dinner for Friends" class; he's been saying for awhile that he'd like to go sometime, and finally signed up. Can you tell I'm excited?? :D

Fax I was waiting for just arrived... I'll take my Hercules to go, please!

We have an old Peugeout. As katharina was at school, we had two cars. Now Alex drives Peugeout. In December it was supposed to go to TÜV. We did not want to pay much money for repairing. At the end we paid because we love the old car :)
Caren
I hope it is possible to fix your camera. Our car has no stand heating. Each winter I think how nice it would be to get in the warm car in the morning.
Bärgit
I cannot understand why it is possible in zoo Berlin to have the standing water without filtration.
I think Sydney will apply for the job at RB.

All books are there.
Our Charles trained us to feed him first, before we begin to prepair our food. He had very strong voice and schouted without a break :)

We all do just see what we want to see once in a while, don?t you think!?

e.g.: What looks so very nice to us (rolling of the bears on their back!)
just might be the attempt to get rid of parasites such as mites!

GOOD NIGHT lovelies - have nice dreams and a warm and cosy cover to protect you from the Sibirian cold . . .!

Teddybärenmutti - I hope the teddy choir is singing a beautiful lullaby for you.

Red Baron - I'm sure you've already received lots of applications! Unfortunately I'm too lazy and hate house work - and I'm not especially fluffy either....

Caren - I understand how you feel about your camera. I remember our first car. It was a Peugeot and we really loved that car. When we had to buy a new car I told the salesman to find a good home for our old car. He must have thought I was on the run from that place where the men in white coats take care of you :D
